BvS Is it all over? Or do you want to see where all this leads?

The DCEU. Yay or nay?

  • Carry on with everyone and everything as planned.

  • Sack Snyder but continue

  • Suicide Squad will tell all

  • Abandon everything now, let Suicide Squad be the end.

I've seen this conversation come up in a few boards, I don't wish to flood the boards too much with different topics but this one felt separate enough to have its own discussion.

I've seen a surprising amount of people so disgusted by the film that they feel WB should completely start a fresh. Abandon everything and go again.

I can't see why I mean did people think this film was THAT bad? That bad that 7 films should just be stopped and tossed out. I thought there was enough good in the film, particularly from the actors to carry on and enough wiggle room in the issues to be ironed out.

For example I've already said that there could be a
Batman prequel where he snaps and becomes more bloodthirsty. That could be a really cool original badass Batman story there. Thats new territory for a mainstream Batman film.

Also despite Luthors terrible last lines I genuinely believe Eisenberg gave enough to show that given the right material he could be a thoroughly evil, sinister Luthor. I like to think of him as naive, young, dickbag Luthor that will grow into a more straight evil Luthor.

I believe there is potential here that with the right filmmakers this right now has the baseline of a great universe. Apparently Snyder literally has the whole thing mapped out. Should they continue? How do you feel?

Who the hell cares what people say, as long as the movie makes money they're sticking to the plan. Sorry guys. People really hate those Transformers films - keeping making them. Again, I'm sorry but that's just how it works. I say continue on, I liked it and I really enjoy Snyder's work. The idea to abandon all hope now is insane and costly.

I hope it not make enough money that WB want so they change plan for movies and get new director for Justice league.

No its' not over. What stupid thread. Justice League is ready to shoot in a few weeks as well. Most of the actors bar the main BVS cast are in London right now.

I get this odd feeling since you hate most of the DC films and love Spidey 2 that you just hate current Superhero flicks.

Sack Snyder but continue. The DCCU is still salvageable.

Not a stupid thread. At all.

I say Sack Snyder and keep the cast. Get a competent director and do a proper Justice League film (with the JL fully formed because **** it). Do it in soft-reboot fashion.

Sack Snyder. Hold off on the Justice League movie. Get working on the Batfleck solo ASAP.

I liked what Snyder did in MOS, as it set the whole thing motion and established the universe these characters will inhabit, so that shouldn't be chucked out IMO.

Batfleck came out of B v S with comparatively little **** on his shoes, as did WW, so they should certainly go forward as they are now.

I would even let Snyder direct a solo Bat-film, but I think someone else with a bit more love for the character needs to direct a solo Superman film - because he was essentially everyone's whipping boy in B v S. Sure he died a hero but that's pretty cold comfort.

As for JL, well I'm nervous and if they change directors well I wouldn't complain, so long as it was someone who could manage both spectacle and character. I hear Joss Whedon is free at the moment........

I think Terrio has to take some blame for a convoluted and pretty average story, but Snyder has to take the fall for its mediocre (at best) execution).

It's not all over - many, including myself, left excited for the future of the DCEU.

But Snyder hacked this movie up and he shouldn't be allowed to continue doing so.

Can Snyder and push back Justice League until they can bring in somebody competent to direct. Don't reboot. People are too quick to jump to that any time a franchise gets a bad film. Unlike the ASM franchise, this one isn't so broken that it can't be fixed. But it might get there if Snyder continues. He has to go.

Yeah, the main problem is Snyder. They need Aaron Rogers and they're stuck with Johnny Manziel. Enough is enough.

Really wondering where all of the wishful thinking for Suicide Squad is deriving from....

Yea it has the Joker, but this movie had both Batman AND Superman in it, yet it still got rear-ended by critics. So how does that make a difference?

It's not being directed by Zack Snyder.

That is my hope. I can certainly live with one franchise I love that continues on , makes money and everyone in the intelegnesia or cool hates. It just brings me back to my old ( I mean old like the 80s) where nobody got the stuff i liked but i get big budget films now.

Because its made by a totally different director and film crew, maybe?

As long as the Transformers film franchise continues, this Snyderverse franchise will.

They are basically of the same quality, yet yield enough box office to justify more films.

The fact of the matter is, WB is going to have to move quickly if they want to salvage this. The problem relies on the box office. The OW was always going to be huge, no matter the critical response. The real test they're going to be looking at is the second weekend. If there's a significant drop, WB will take notice. By then it may be too late.

I don't think this franchise can continue getting big grosses with Transformers level quality. We've already seen audiences abandon both Batman and Superman when their films have gotten horrible in the past. It might take a couple of films, but I really think we would see the audience and thus the profits start to dwindle.

And besides, does any of us want this franchise to become like Transformers anyways? I haven't bothered watching any of those since the first one, and I certainly don't want to see some of my favorite characters end up in that state.

I never said it would become like TF, I'm just saying critics and feedback don't mean dick in the end, just the box office gross. Sure it may dip next weekend what doesn't but this movie has NO competition right now. And I've talked to numerous people talking about going to see this multiple times now, I know I will. Plus, we're in a spring break period state side so that will help. My Spring Break starts next week. Apparently it made $27m Thursday night alone and picked up $44m overseas.

^^^THIS

Sack Snyder and just continue on. I think the general audience will be extra weary of Justice League but it still has a chance. Just because 1 bad franchise is able to continue on based just on box office doesn't mean that it will work for this one. The audience has come to expect a certain level of quality when it comes to superhero films and I doubt they will let this one get by.
