What is with Steve Rogers? In the Cap books, when he comes back to life he gets a Presidential Pardon from the current president which I thought was so totally awesome, and and then in another Cap book, he pretty ignores the president when he calls; and then when bucky's trial is about to start, he refuses to stand with the president when he considers a different venue, walking out on him in the office.

You should've seen how most Marvel heroes and writers reacted to Pres. Bush. ;)

Steve Rogers got Cyclops a Presidential Medal Of Honor, and Cyke tossed it into the ocean. That's likely far worse.

In the 70's, an alternate version of Gerald Ford was literally made into a super-villain, the Black Lama.

I'm sure Rogers is fine with Obama. But Marvel also likes to be "current", so as Obama is slipping in public polls, maybe that has something to do with it. Marvel brass deny being that obvious and transparent, but they totally are, and in a way always have been about politics. Look how many baddies came out of Cold War paranoia. :D

Just when I was taking to heart that Steve Rogers/Captain America is all about the American People; all this is hedging me to believe that Comics are becoming dangerously too Political. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised seeing as how we're talking about Cap here.

Steve's crosses with Obama have more to do with story purposes of him being unable to abandon Bucky (who is like a brother to him) while the government has no choice but to let him go. Or he ignores such calls when the situation is dire enough to where he has no choice but to act.

I don't think it's Marvel making any real political statements on an incredibly unpopular President.

I thought Obama was a big deal?

Don't answer that. I stopped caring halfway through the question.

You also have to remember that Captain America strives to uphold the principles and ideals of America, not merely be loyal to any specific president or government official.

It's all for story purposes, so I'm guessing he'd do that regardless of who was in office.

Funny. How much did Marvel have their characters overly support Obama in the brightest light once Obama came into office? They practically made Spider-Man and Obama BFFs in their encounter.

It's from the Ultimate comics. I believe it is Ultimate Punisher in a Cap costume, but I'm not 100% sure because I don't read that s***.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it's from Mark Millar's Ultimate Comics: Avengers.

It's Ultimate Punisher who replace Steve Rogers as a part of an Ultimate Avengers wetworks type team that included Ultimate War Machine and a African American Hulk. He is also partially responsible for the death of Spiderman when he was trying kill Captain America he accidentally shot Peter.

Maybe Cap is upset that his heath insurance has doubled in cost thanks to Obamacare.

If Cap doesn't like Obama, that means he feels the same way as 72% of the populace.

Hahaha YEAH!!:whatever: like i am going to take the political views of a gun totting Psychopathic skull wearing vigilante ( remember when dude was killing people for littering!! HAHAHA) YEAH!like i could see that dude on The McLoughlin Group....look at that awful sense of fashion!
Where's DAREDEVIL when you need him!

...Besides everybody know the People in the Marvel universe are dumb as a box of rocks. They voted for a known Felon Norman Osbourn as head of their National Security BWHAHAHAHAHA!

No they didn't. Osborn was appointed by George W. Bush and approved by Barack Obama, who agreed with his predecessor's decision to dismantle S.H.I.E.L.D. and replace it with a U.S. controlled and more effective organization along with who should head it. The general public just simply approved of this because Osborn was the head of the Thunderbolts Initiative, saved Washington D.C. from the Skrulls, and killed Queen Vernanke.

ohhhhh so George bush appointed a known felon as head! Figures hahahaha come on! Hippie the Marvel Universe is made up of a bunch of rockheaded boneheads. they believe for years Spidey was a menace to society all in part from a newspaper.... hmm you know! it really is true about what they say about "art imitating life or life imitates art!"hehe

As I recall, Obama didn't approve of Osborn so much as grudgingly agree to let the status quo stand. Not that that was a good decision, either...

Yeah, DC did so much better when its people elected Lex Luthor President of the US. /end sarcasm

At least he wasn't publicly known to be a felon at the time. He actually made the effort to cover his s*** up.

In Secret Warriors #1, Obama told Nick Fury that he agreed with Bush that S.H.I.E.L.D. should be dismantled and replaced with a more effective, more controllable, and more accountable agency.

In Thunderbolts #129, while Obama had some reservations about Osborn due to the amount of power he was being granted and accusations set forth by Doc Samson, Obama approved of him after Osborn "saved" his life and "proved" that he wasn't the Green Goblin anymore.

And of course with Marvel just loving to tie things in with the real world, you also have to take into account that Marvel set Osborn's appointment during the Bush/Obama transition era. And during that era, Bush was very cooperative with the Obama transition team. He wouldn't undergo any major initiative unless Obama approved of it. And he stepped aside on account that he didn't want to step on Obama's toes or enact something contradictory to what the next Administration planned to do. Bush received a lot of praise for his transition and Bush himself was motivated to be a better man than Bill Clinton, who was said to not cooperative at all with his transition team.

So considering the actual events within the White House during the Bush/Obama transition era, add in the fact that dismantling S.H.I.E.L.D. and replacing it with H.A.M.M.E.R. is a freaking HUGE change to enact, Bush would not have appointed Norman Osborn and would not have dismantled S.H.I.E.L.D. and replace it with H.A.M.M.E.R. without Obama's approval and agreement.

Actually, you can't blame the populace of the DCU electing Lex Luthor, President of the United States. Like Corp said, Lex was not a convicted felon and he actually made the effort to cover his **** up. And beforehand, he turned himself into the police and found innocent by a court of law, with the public believing him. And he was beloved by the people of Metropolis because they saw him as the source of jobs, charity, and prosperity for the city.

Then you have Luthor's popularity being boosted by the events of No Man's Land where he violated US law and went into Gotham and committed the resources of LexCorp to rebuild Gotham City and helping her people. The government couldn't stop Luthor on account that No Man's Land was very unpopular within the American public, let alone imagine how bad it would look that the government was stopping Luthor from helping people, it would have taken a military action to remove Luthor out of Gotham, and Luthor had too many Congressmen in his pocket to get Congress to act against him.

And then his popularity skyrocketed after he successfully coordinated the US military, Earth's superheroes, and various alien powers like Apokolips to stop Imperiex and Brainiac 13 from destroying the universe.

So yeah, at least there were legitimate reasons for the populace of the DC Universe for loving Luthor. Norman Osborn on the other hand, was already outed as the psychotic Green Goblin when he was appointed Director of H.A.M.M.E.R.
