Just a question, is it wrong if a local radio station warns people about speed traps set up by the police? I mean no one wants to get a ticket but if you knew where all the speed traps were and drove safely around those areas but drove crazy else where, it that really a good thing?

No, it's not wrong, it serves the same purpose as those highway signs that tell you about the areas that are under radar and double-fined. Gets people to slow down, at least for a while.

But, if you did not know where the speed traps were wouldn't that make you more inclined to drive the speed limit?

My local news station always tells when the cops set up on a certain route to catch speeders, see nothing wrong and people need to slow down anyway. Seen idiots doing 80(speed limited is 65) to 100 mph

No, most people wouldn't, that's why we have so many accidents.

well most deaf people use it, the words being spoken on tv is shown on the bottom of the screen for me to 'hear' what being said.

I use it, I some times miss what is being said. It's great to watch music videos too.

To answer the question I don't think it's wrong, DC has gotten so much money through this and yet the schools and streets are in shambles. (millions) Parking tickets are ridiculous as well here.

No its not wrong, its damn patriotic if you ask me.

Nothing wrong about it. Most of the time they park themselves right where you can get enough warning to slow down.

Ive never gotten a ticket.
It's pretty easy to figure out where to slow down

Exactly my point.
I dont see how anything of the sort could be wrong. Plus you have to consider that someone would have said something by now if it was "wrong".

Nothing wrong with it at all. Around here, you have to watch out for sneaky motorcycle cops who set up speed traps where there is no way in hell you would know they were there until you are almost upon them so you'll never have enough time to slow down.

jag

I do appreciate the good citizens that flash their lights to warn of speed traps ahead, now that's patriotic.

i get ya, it's just called subtitles over here.

we get it for television but the beginning of the thread mentions a radio station,

in the uk we generally don't get speed camera reports broadcast on the tv so i assume it was all done on radio in the us just like in the uk.

which is why when you said 'you local station' i wondered how the hell can you pick up traffic reports on a radio?

why on earth would they put traffic reports on tv anyway, it sounds like possibly the worst idea ever.

I have one of the fastest cars in my state, speed all the time, and have NEVER gotten a ticket in almost 5 years of driving.

No need to listen to the radio.

Depends on where you live. Different states have different laws regarding the disclosure of that information.

I'm actually going to court this morning for one I got on the 6th . I tells ya, when they said those Mustangs were built for speed they weren't lying. :( Speed traps are basically on long straightways, that's how it usually works. And that's exactly where they got my ass.
