Is Jerry Seinfeld overrated?

erm...if Chris Rock is so much better than Seinfeld, why is it that the Seinfeld show is geniusly hilarious and Everybody Hates Chris is one of the lamest, least funny shows I've ever seen on television?

The King of Freaking Queens or Everybody Loves Raymond are piss-yer-pajamas, cutting edge laugh riots compared to that show.

Some examples of Chris Rock's "superior comedic skillz":

'He' loses his lucky socks. At school he finds out he has to give a report.
Chris Rock's narration: "Now not only do I need some new SOCKS...I'm gonna need some new UNDERWEAR!"

They give the class eggs for an assignment to pretend the eggs are babies that they need to protect and care for.
'Chris's' racist teacher gives him a BROWN egg (LoLz!)...

Chris Rock's narration: "A brown EGG?!? Now MY eggs gonna get pulled over by the cops more often!"

Sheer effing ******ed crapola :o

IMO, Chris Rock is the opposite of Seinfeld. Brilliant at stand up, tv show average. Seinfeld had a brilliant tv show, average at stand up.

jerry seinfeld is not funny..period
he wasnt even the funniest comedian..on "his" show

Clearly Bania was.

(though Jerry did write Bania's best material; "The should call it Roundtine.")

Interestingly, I hate Seinfeld but love Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I never really found him funny and it's not because he's to subtle. His humor is truly nothing special, I think the tv show Seinfeld was probaly one of the best on television and I'm still a fan (Michael Richards withstanding.)

Oh and Larry David is the real reason Seinfeld was so good.

Seinfeld may have the better sitcom, but Chris Rock is DEFINITLY the better stand-up comedian!

Thats cause Curb is basically the George Constanza show. And, George was the best character in my opinion.

Maybe you just dislike Jerry being the main character. I think Curb is awesome too, but it's basically an even more cynical "george" character as the main character played by Larry David. He should have just played "George" on Seinfeld, since he wrote a lot of it anyway. It would have been even better with him as George.

He should have just played "George" on Seinfeld

I have often thought about that but everything has worked out for the best, I think. Had David played George we probably would have never gotten Curb. And I love Curb. So yeah...everything worked out for the best!

What's the deal with Grape Nuts?

You Open It Up, No Grapes, No Nuts! What's the Deal?"

yeah Seinfeld would have faded into obscurity without Larry David.

This is true. I like having both, myself.

They are equally good for different reasons. But, without Seinfeld there would be no Curb, and without Larry David, there would be no Seinfeld.

Did I just break some law of physics?

I don't think Larry would've been comfortable playing George at the time. He was already having panic attacks trying to come up with ideas he didn't need the added pressure of remembering lines.

I don't think the network would've allowed Larry to play George eiter, they almost didn't let him be the showrunner but with no showrunner experience they had a good case. Comedian/actor Larry Miller, Jerry's best friend, was actually going to play George but then Jason Alexander came in for the audition. Larry and Jerry agreed that he was the best for the part. Miller later ended up playing The Doorman. "You think you're better than me don't you?"

Jerry accepting the award. Actually funny.

w/ Jerr Seinfeld, i love seinfeld, but as a comedian, i dont think hes all that funny

I haven't seen Chris Rock's sitcom, but he's one of the 4 or 5 funniest comedians I've ever seen. A smart, social comedian in the tradition of Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce and Bill Hicks.

Do I think Jerry Seinfeld is overrated? Not really.

George and Elaine were my two favorite main characters, but they were all funny in their own ways (Jerry least funny, but he still had his moments)

The supporting characters were all great too

My favorite was always George. I also liked George's parents. And, Newman was pretty funny too.

There's a lot of reasons why Seinfeld was the most successful sitcom ever. Jerry is probably the main one.

Oh come on, Jerry was way funnier than Elaine.

"GIVE IT TO ME YA OLD BAG!"
