I hope not, i think Jane did a good job potraying Castle, I would hope to see a better sequel that touches up on the first ones flaws... So no dvd release... that sucks...

Wasn't the first movie more profitable when it went to DVD? Besides, I really don't think Marvel would send the movie straight to DVD.

I will personally punish them if it ends up being a straight-to-DVD release.

Seriously doubt it. Anyone with a brain realizes that it has great box office potential. Dude Bullseye where is that avvy from?

Natalie Portman on Saturday Night Live.

As for the question about Punisher 2. Well you never know these days but i doubt this a D-t-v thing. Certainly if Jane is involved.

I'm not sure what they will do with the Punisher....but I believe you will be seeing a lot more straight to DVD releases in the future. Studios are seeing that many movies are making more money on DVD than in their theatrical releases. If they can cut out the cost of making film prints and advertising for theatrical releases, which the news has been reporting for the last couple of years as being on the downslide, then they could see even more profit with direct to store releases.

Didn't Marvel make a deal or something a while back already to do a couple straight to dvd movies already?? And I honestly don't see the Punisher 2 being straight to dvd considering the first already had a very low budget and Hensleigh barely made it with that.

I know they are doing the straight to video animated movies...but I'm not sure about live action. I remember hearing something about Marvel straight to video productions, but don't recall if it was that they were going to try a couple or that they had decided not to do it.

Where the Punisher was fairly low budget to begin with...they may not go for the direct release...but you have to admit that for some character adaptions it could be a good option.

Yeah but C Lee do you agree that if the Punisher just had a better release date it would have had a much bigger box office?

Yep...it was released to close to Kill Bill....you don't want to release similarily themed movies close together...especially if the opposition has Tarintino's name attached.

Close??? It was the same day...lol. A Quentin Tarantino revenge/action most anticipated sequel of the year. Worst decision ever.

I know....I've heard some say they should have waited or started a week different...I was trying to say there should have been a couple of months between them at least.

Well that's my point. Just normal people like us can see it has great box office potential if just handled more properly.

There were several things done wrong to promote it. They should have had more mention of Roy Sheider as his dad is one. When I watched the DVD with my parents, they were surprised to hear he was in it and were glad to see him because they are fans of his. A lot of older people may go to see a movie because of some of the older "non currently popular" actors that are in them. Hollywood tends to forget this.

Well I think so much was put into Travolta they tried to put a lot of the focus that he was in the movie which was also a mistake.

It was. He has a following for sure...but they aren't necessarily the action movie type (Broken Arrow not withstanding). I went because I am a comic and action movie fan...my wife wanted to go after she saw the trailers with Thomas Jane. My dad can't stand Travolta, but likes Scheider. They should have reached out to a more diverse group of possible customers.

Yeah I think to put it bluntly it was just handled improperly and poorly period. And hopefully LGF or if another studio gets the rights sees that it was an corrects it.

I saw it becasue it was a comic book movie and I was expecting a Pulp Fiction performance from Travolta. I was never a fan of the Punisher before the movie.

Well, I actually saw it after playing the videogame. I must be the rareity, but the game got me into the character.

I probably would have caught it anyways, but being introduced to the character through the game was probably best for me.

If saw 3 is coming out on the big screen then why not The Punisher 2?
