Is the DC universes Batman old throughout the story line?

I was just looking at some photos, I can't find any info but I noticed he seemed to have less of a burnt and horrible and horrendously burnt type of face look going on in newer renditions and drawings of this interpretation of the character. I was wondering then if there's like a split-off, or if he somehow goes back in time and undoes what disfigured him in the first place and gets sent back to this future timeline relatively younger then what originally began in the stories arcs?
