It's a famous phrase, and there are two famous songs that are built around it. One is by Albert Hammond. It's a 70s tale about a man going out to California to experience the bright lights and to become a star in the land of opportunity. Sadly, he doesn't experience those great things and he's down on his luck trying to put on a front to a friend as if he's happy.:csad:

Now the second version is a song done in the 90s by Tony Toni Tone! It's all about being with your woman. In the song Tony Toni Tone! express how happy they are to have a chance to see a woman he hasn't seen in a while. What does it have to do with raining in Southern California? I don't know, but it's a damn good song.:yay:

I love both versions and sing them often. What about you though? Which version do you like better?

I like Albert Hammonds version.

Its a good one for me to listen to when I am feeling rather mellow.

Yeah, it's one of those songs. I used to listen to it before working out, but I realized that wasn't such a good idea since I would end up walking all melancholy and stuff.

I like the Hammond version better, although it's one of those songs I've heard all my life without ever paying much attention to the lyrics. I like it more now that I have a better understanding of it. :)
