Vulture reports that J.J. Abrams will next direct a project that will be "both a tribute to and a collaboration with Steven Spielberg." According to the site, the script is a "a tip of the hat to [Spielberg's] movies of the 70's and early 80's."

If the project moves forward, Abrams would direct from his own script starting early fall for Paramount Pictures.

The project reportedly "will deal with everyday people whose personal relationships are tested when they are thrown up against extraordinarily fantastic - and possibly other-worldly - events."

The movie is expected to have a low budget, but won't have shaky cam like Cloverfield.

Hmmmmmmmm, intriguing!

That's got me interested.

I like the sound of this.

Sounds like it could be pretty damn cool.

both of them have 204 million projects. this is just a new one on the list.

i would like that they start making movies and not just adding scripts to the list.

I hope this is great. I sure do miss the heart in Spielberg films. Which they haven't had since Jurassic Park.

When is SS doing that wormhole movie or whatever? Interstellar?

Abrams and Spielberg, I'm there.

This is full of potential :woot:

Abarams and Spielberg in the same sentence? they need to be REALLY careful here....the universe could explode from awesome overload!!!

I've been telling people for years that his last 'AMBLIN' type film was Jurassic Park. Amblin was his production company and it symbolized his fantasy/family work in the 70s and 80s, if you didn't know.

Since then he has changed. I think he has matured with Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan..but War of the Worlds and Indy 4 proved that he has most certainly changed and they lack the 'magical' charm of his old films. In other words, if he made 'War' or Indy 4 in the 80s or early 90s, they probably would have been better movies.
