James Franco Aquires the Rights to "The Disaster Artist"

Please tell me he's so deluded that he isn't even in on the joke.
It almost seems that way, especially the way he is with all the fans who worship him and treat him like a rock star. But then, the rational side of me thinks, "no, he has to know, right?" A part of me thinks his diva behavior is precisely because he knows how ridiculous it all is, but the other part of me thinks that part is giving him too much credit, based on the complete lack of self-awareness evident in that actual film. I honestly have no clue. All I know is that he's living nowhere near planet Earth.

When you meet all different kinds of people the unaware "character" of Tommy wisue is very believable.

Really happy with the teaser. I was already wanting to see this film more than anything anyway but now I'm certain.

Don't care to see anymore footage.

flickchick have you read Sestero's book?

Having had to deal with the man in person on multiple occasions for my job, I'm gonna have to beg to differ there. We've hosted screenings and Q&A's with all sorts of A-listers and political types, yet Tommy Wiseau's been the most self-important blowhard of them all. Greg Sestero on the other hand has never been anything but an absolute sweetheart.

Ha ha, what a story, flickchick!

(But seriously, that's a little sad to hear.)

Greg Sestero's impression of Tommy on the audiobook is great. :hehe:

I started watching the Tommy wi-show on youtube last night and now im convinced he's actually an alien.

I actually think Franco's Wiseau voice is a little too deep. I think though, a perfect impression of Wiseau would be too cartoony, so I'm okay for a compromise.

So, your saying Franco is the perfect casting??? :cwink:

I was at a screening in November. Wiseau was there but ducks out when the movie starts :funny: He has an assistant with exactly the same hair as him. Make of that what you will. I got an autograph and picture with him. He spelled my name right but not my friend's name on the autograph. We have the same name.

But you can tell he's very grateful and happy he has fans. The man kept high fiving the same guy whenever he put his hand out. :funny: Wiseau has said that it was always intended to be a black comedy when it was always going to be a drama. I think he knows how it was received poorly, but now he just owns it, hence how he's changed gears like it was all planned out.

If you ever go to a screening, you have to sit for like an hour playing other things from Wiseau before The Room even starts. It's truly a bizarre odyssey.

This doesn't surprise me at all, especially after I read the Disaster Artist. Tommy acted like a total dick to the girl who played Lisa in the movie per that book. I came away from it feeling really bad for her.

I was SO disappointed the new trailer didn't show before IT in my theater. Do we have any idea when it will go online?
