James Gunn's to write early days Superman. New actor to be cast.

Focusing on his younger years.

I have no ****ing idea who to cast. :funny:

younger years

"WB can't afford henry, so we are definitely casting some unknown on a 6+ picture deal"

I mean how young do we mean? Jacob Elordi has been fan cast a bit and he's 25, I'm neither here nor there on that but I would assume it's not going to be Smallville the movie, it's gotta be someone who looks old enough to actually be in the suit

Either Jennifer Holland or Zoe Saldana will be Lois Lane. Mark my words.

@flickchick85 is quoting Jiminy Cricket in the new Pinnochio movie. "One nightmare ends, another begins!"

You have to think they're talking to him about something. Golden Boy over on the Warner lot.

Yeah, there's no way Gunn, Safran and the folks at WB aren't already thinking of potential roles that Butler could end up be cast for in the new DCU. And while there are other popular options like Green Arrow or perhaps a villain in the ReevesVerse, I'd wager that WB would be very happy to see him land Superman in particular.

Especially if Butler gets nominated or even manages to win the Oscar for Best Actor this year for Elvis. This Superman reboot is going to need to be a sign of confidence and a big victory for the new DCU when it comes out, in addition to finally revitalizing the Superman brand for the public.

Glen Powell maybe?

He'd be a better Flash. My friend suggested Jack Quaid (who would also be a good Flash). I don't know about that, but it's interesting to think about.

Glen Powell doesn't strike me as having the depth for it but I haven't seen him in anything other than Top Gun. Austin Butler would be a gigantic win.

I like Austin Butler and can kind of see him working in a round about Nic Cage way, but it feels like trying to cram what's hot at the moment into something that isn't a natural fit.

Since Gunn is writing this movie, two potential storylines seem likely to me...

1. upload_2022-12-14_21-7-17.png

2. A live action version of this. upload_2022-12-14_21-9-24.png

Gunn could totally go traditional and give us a Metallo or even Mxy in some fashion. It's gotta be David Corenswet imo.

Does HE really have to write it though? Is he able to refrain from his go to childish jokes?

He could just be doing the outline and other will be hired to flesh it out.

Morrison's Jeans Superman! Let's gooooooooooooo!

Funnily enough he is already going to be playing superman...in the animated series

Austin Butler for Supes and Momoa's Lobo as the villain? Yeh I think that's a good starting point for a universe.

Between the rumors of this “Superman in his early years” film starting off in Metropolis, and Jason Momoa playing Lobo, I’m wondering if we’re going to get some version of the Superman: Man of Tomorrow animated film in live-action form?

A young Clark Kent starting off at the Daily Planet and simultaneously still trying to figure out the whole Superman thing, while also having to deal with a couple of serious, but not world ending, extraterrestrial threats that challenge his role as the superhero he needs to become? Honestly, seems like a pretty good template and starting off point for a Superman film to kick off your new DC film universe.

Personnay I think it's past time for Brainiac.

I want the beautiful green, three dots on his forehead that form a triangle, and captains a skull ship, Brainiac.

I like Lobo also, but give him his own solo film first, then have him come to earth in the 2nd superman film to get Lex, as he will have a bounty on him. ( maybe Brainiac put it out on Lex? )
Superman would be forced to fight lobo to protect Lex.
