Saw this last night. Awesome movie. Not as good as The Prestige, but still awesome. Really stretches suspension of disbelief, as it flirts with implying that real magic does exist, but doesn't really even go that far. It's just that some of the tricks and visuals rely so heavily on CGI that it can be alarming in some instances. However, the visuals are pretty stunning. The cast was top notch in the film, and Mark Ruffalo does a great job of anchoring everything. Mélanie Laurent was great as well. Given the names with whom she had to share her scenes, it was remarkable that my attention just gravitated toward her constantly. And of course, watching Michael Cain and Morgan Freeman butt heads was a pure delight.
The movie builds toward a revelation in the end, but I won't discuss it until next week when others have had a chance to see it. Feel free to ask me questions about the rest of the movie, and I'll do my best to answer without spoiling. I'll probably not be back on here until close to lunchtime (about 7 hours from now).
