Agreed. Also, Abrams has probably been struggling due to both the pandemic and the Fandom Menace needlessly jumping all over him. People really take him for granted and don't seem to realize how much he truly understands the franchises he gets involved him. That is a good thing if true. They should be putting pressure on creatives to deliver. However, that can also lead to rushed projects.
I've said before DC needs to get out of "attach a big name as a producer" mindset. Abrams is talented but also has a ton of projects, DC and otherwise, that it'll be hard for him to give his full attention to any of them. Except for maybe anything he is directing. One of the reasons Feige was good is because his whole workday revolved around the MCU. That was his bread and butter.
WB needs a guy completely dedicated to pushing the DC universe forward and someone who knows you don't need to rely on big names behind or infront of he camera anymore.
Alrighty...Agreed. Also, Abrams has probably been struggling due to both the pandemic and the Fandom Menace needlessly jumping all over him. People really take him for granted and don't seem to realize how much he truly understands the franchises he gets involved him.
Have we all forgotten that Star Trek was on the brink and Star Wars was mostly "done" aside from side content like The Clone Wars, some games, and books when JJ came aboard? The dude breathed new life into BOTH series. Not Kathleen Kennedy, not Paramount, HIM! "But he relies too much on nostalgia and his mystery box technique for storytelling!" So f-ing WHAT? Heaven goddamn forbid a director be inspired and actually try to be INTERESTING in how he tells the story he wants to tell!
Bottom line, JJ Abrams may not be perfect (Mission Impossible 3 is still his weakest film, though also his first directoral-wise), but at least the dude has a grasp of things and actually puts effort! Leave him alone!

See? This is the bull**** I'm talking about. Y'all love jumping on him. Again, need I remind you the state of Star Trek beforehand? Nemesis and Enterprise and how everyone hated those?I haven’t laughed this hard in awhile.
I like Abrams fine. I do have my complaints but I do with a lot of directors I like.See? This is the bull**** I'm talking about. Y'all love jumping on him. Again, need I remind you the state of Star Trek beforehand? Nemesis and Enterprise and how everyone hated those?
Why do I even bother coming here if I keep getting my points shot down? If it's not being mean to Abrams, it's being mean to whoever in charge of Lucasfilm. Sick of this crap.
I get worked up because I'm passionate. And sorry if I'm out of line. It's just that the Fandom Menace were so mean to him and Rian Johnson, when their movies really were great. Both of JJ's especially made Star Wars FEEL like Star Wars again to me. I'll go to bat for that entire trilogy before I ever say anything good story-wise about the prequel trilogy.I like Abrams fine. But you always get so worked up and go on these angry rants over things that aren't a big deal. That's why I just said "alrighty. "
EDIT: and the funny thing is people aren't even that mean to Abrams. Like he's not M Night, Bay, or one of those directors the net loves to pile on to death. He has his haters sure, but nothing that crazy especially compared to a lot of other directors. It's not like he gets the Morbius treatment

As for JJ and DC....give him Superman. Not some alt-universe thing, I mean good ol' Clark Kent. Even if it's similar in tone to what Richard Donner did, I'm ok with that. That's why Superman's supposed to feel like: an uplifting hero who gives off a sense of hope and inspiration to those who encounter him, not a mopey git whom people keep comparing to Jesus for no reason. Think Captain America but can fly and has super powers; THAT'S who Superman should be tone-wise.

None of the sequels sucked.I like Abrams and all but The Last Jedi sucked.
To be fair and as was brought up, COVID happened early the very next year which could affecting things for both deals.Just a reminder Lord & Miller signed a very similar deal with Sony. It also happened in 2019, it's 9-figures and just like Abrams they can show no results. That Spidey TV-universe still didn't happen. I think when you pay talent so much it's only fair to expect results.

I really feel the TROS hate is overblown. That's not the worst Star Wars movie. Not by a long shot. The Clone Wars movie is, with Attack of the Clones second.I'm guessing WB asked JJ to come up with some new ideas and it's caused him massive writer's block. The guy is a solid director but he's a horrid writer, and for the most part, the others from Bad Robot are even worse.
I would have agreed pre-TROS but that one broke me. I still enjoy 7 & 8 though, and would place both ahead of the prequel trilogy.
