I'm hoping that they are holding out on us and that they only showed these scenes in the trailer so they don't end up scaring off the audience immediately.

Well, it's just a teaser trailer. They're suppose to, you know, tease.

Interesting. This movie is a novel ? How is it ?

they're really good and a ton of fun to read. there are about 11 novels in the "Barsoom Series" (as its called), the first trilogy deals with the adventures of John Carter (A Princess of Mars, The Gods of Mars, and The Warlord of Mars). I was able to buy that trilogy collected into one book at barnes and noble for like 12 bucks. an awesome buy.

where in the trailer do you see him riding a horse with his armor on? all the horse riding is on earth, and i didnt see any with him in armor.

I think the trailer looks great! Its a must watch for me! I think Disney is getting quite good at live-action epics(Pirates, Prince of Persia, and others).

At the first glance I thought it could be Mars too, but then I saw that John Carter had a beard, I noticed that he has less facial hair when he is on Mars.

In the books, On Earth he is chased into a cave by Apaches at the beginning...it looks like they will change that for the movie and have him being chased by soldiers.

Very reactionary in their part; for them not knowing who is behind this project is frrudtrating because it's not like Disney and unofficially Pixar hired fools for this film.

It feels like its the Avatar of next year. The visuals are awesome and its looks like a really ride of a movie. But the characters look boring and the story seems like not the most original. And it will end up alot like Avatar I think. The box-office will be huge, and the reviews will be pretty good and not amazing. It will have its die hard lovers, and its haters. Batman fans most likely.

I think the writing will be strong due to Michael Chabon and Stanton.

I of course recommend reading them, because I've been a fan of them for decades. The chance you will always take if you read any novel that a movie is being made of, is making the comparisons of what was on the page and what is on the screen.

The only reason the story may not seem original is...IT was the original story that all the other movies and books ripped off.
