Johnny Depp is 'Rango'

Good. I think I may see this this weekend. I need to go to the movies. It's been too long.

The character designs are so creative. I'm definitely going to try to check this out this weekend.

For real. I haven't been to the theater since December when I saw Black Swan. This has probably been my longest drought since...I don't know.

Since I saw Season of the Witch. But that doesn't count...

I might go and see this, it looks enjoyable and the reviews are certainly encouraging. I haven't seen an animated movie in theatres in years.

i got 4 friends to watch this movie with me. but we need to whait 1 week.

no denial. this is an animated movie for adults.

i saw this last night and let me just say the CG is phenomenal...

however it was just as bland and predictable as legend of the Gaurdians... it wasnt funny at all (for adults i mean)..and the story has been told A MILLION TIMES!... how many more animated movies about a fraud who makes everyone believe he's a hero to later find out he's not do we need?

but the character creations were reason enough to watch this... every character was top-notch cg wise and design wise... truly a work of art.

..and the clint eastwood cameo was great, though im sure that was probably timmothy olyphants voice.

6.9 out of 10... only because it was so pretty, like Legend of the Gaurdians

Ok. Can we stop with the talking animal movies now? :)

And go back to talking toys and talking cars? They do this because with humans, they can't really avoid that uncanny valley thing, and animals are more marketable.

Saw about an hour of this during my lunch today, and it pretty much reminded me of the first time I saw Shrek in the theatre in 2001. "This is for kids?" was my first thought, because it's a hard PG, seriously. But I didn't want to leave.

I have a feeling it's gonna hit big this weekend and be the biggest opener this year.

I saw it yesterday with my fiance' and our 4-year old. Our daughter didn't really sit still through all of it, but we saw the whole movie, and I guess it was pretty decent. I thought the movie started off pretty slow, though the
Hawk Chase
was ok.
Nothing really made me laugh out loud, but the animation was really gorgeous in some scenes. I was surprised about how dark the movie got at times, especially in the last 45 minutes or so.
Rattlesnake Jake was pretty awesome though. Who wouldn't want a machine gun for a tail?
OVerall, I personally didn't love it, but the fact a Nick film went for a more mature tone is pretty cool, and I certainly wouldn't tell anyone not to see it. Just my personal tastes and what not.

I'm hoping to see this today, I really like the animation, just hope it has the story to hold it up.

I'm going out with a friend in like 15 minutes to see it.

Just saw it. I liked it, but the thing that really made my day was

The Hunter Thompson cameo. In one moment we're looking at Rango dodging cars and suddenly there's the Red Shark with the good old Hunter and Doctor Gonzo.

Dude, I was in joy over this. I couldn't help but clap my hands ONCE becase it was so goddamn cool. I couldn't believe it.

Then
the Spirit of the West AKA Clint Eastwood was awesome. At first I thought Eastwood did the actual voice. But then in the credits Timothy Olyphant voiced him! :wow: I'm slightly disapointed Eastwood didn't actually do it, but Olyphant voiced a great Eastwood.

Just came back and I have to say it was somehow even better than I thought it was gonna be. As a massive fan of Westerns, it was a really solid addition. The story was great, the humor was there, and it was weird as Hell. Plus the cameo did NOT hurt matters. I'd say the first great movie of '11 I've seen so far.

You know the dvd is going to have an extra where you can probably watch them acting it out live. I want to see Nighy do his lines as Rattlesnake Jake.

Yes,
both appereances were great and worked out pretty well. I really need to see it again, that Hunter cameo was a huge surprise.

Do you know what Hunter had said? I was in so much glee I wasn't able to hear what he said before he got Rango off the windshield.

Something like, "Figures..." like he was tripping and he was now seeing lizards.

I think I was the only person in the theater who got the reference, aside from that fact there were alot of kids there.

I think he said, "Oh God! Figures, there's another one!" Something to that extent. He was definitely tripping balls.:hehe:
