Yes. Although I enjoyed JE I was surprised when that first sequel was announced. And this one, for that matter.

I think Mr, Atkinson had prior commiyments also the studio probably wanted to see how the movie did

I enjoyed them!! me my dad saw johnny english 2 reborn in the movie theaters!! i recently bought them both on blu ray!! they kind of remind me of big mamms house meets james bond meets get smart!! !! there kind of funny!! now i wish they would make pink panther 3 with steve martian!!

The Return of the Pink Panther was made in 1975. It was one of the original Peter Sellers series.

Well... that's one way of putting it.

If someone casually browsed this thread and didn't know what Johnny English is, they could think from reading your post that it's something like Mission Impossible or the Bourne Identity.

But it's more of a spoof and somewhat incompetent version of a secret agent. It's somewhat similar to Mr Bean in terms of comedy, but obviously a different character.

It's actually based on a character that Rowan Atkinson played in a series of Barclaycard commercials:

Atkinson has actually recreated some of the same gags from those adverts for the films.
