Johnny Knoxville to open Action Park

This prompted me to look into this park and the first thing that popped up was a looping water slide. A looping. water. slide. Are you s****ing me?

I've always been fascinated with this park. This is right in his wheelhouse.

I was intrigued by the concept already but I didn't know this was going to be pretty much Jackass with a script. This has gotta be Johnny Knoxville's last hurrah for this stuff right? The guy is pushing 50 and I'm sure all of the stunts have already taken a toll on him.

He did break his genitals when a dirt bike landed on his crotch.

I think Knoxville is insane.
Johnny Knoxville’s eyeball popped out of its socket twice after he was injured while shooting his new film.

The actor and stunt performer has built up a reputation for pulling off some crazy feats over the course of his career, including on the TV show Jackass and in the accompanying movie franchise.

But while he was making his upcoming movie Action Point in South Africa recently, Knoxville hit his head while performing a dangerous stunt, which caused some gruesome damage to his left eye.

“I went (to the emergency room) three times in a five day stretch at one point,” he said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night. “I get home from the emergency room from my second concussion, and I blow my nose, and my left eye pops out of its socket… and I wasn’t expecting that. It was like halfway out!”

Knoxville then explained that he tried to poke his eyeball back in place, and rushed back to the hospital. Doctors then discovered that he had an orbital blowout fracture from when he hit his face, and by blowing his nose he blew air behind the eyeball and caused it to move out of place.

The 46-year-old then wore an eyepatch for a couple of days to help the eye heal. But disaster struck once again while Knoxville was hanging out with his pal Chris Pontius, who also stars in the movie.

“We had a couple of drinks one night and we were walking around and he said something funny and I laughed, and for some reason I held my nose and laughed – and I’m not even supposed to sneeze for the next three weeks – so when I held my nose and laughed it pushed my eye back out again,” he sighed.

During the filming of Action Point, about a daredevil who designs and operates his own theme park, Knoxville also ended up with two concussions, a broken hand, a sprained knee and a gash above his right eyebrow, but in spite of the painful injuries, the star has no plans to stop doing dangerous stunts, as “it’s still fun”.

I think this movie passed its window by a few years...

That eyeball thing is horrifying. Knoxville is crazy.

This the first major movie of 2018 I've walked out of. I normally don't do that with feature films but I made a rule to where if a comedy doesn't make me laugh within an hour of it's running time, I'm out.

An hour went by and I didn't crack neither a smile or a chuckle so I bounced.

While I walked out of the film, I didn't feel any anguish but in fact disappointment towards Knoxville. Why attach a narrative to your stunts? By attaching an actual narrative, you’re decreasing the value and the special uniqueness of your brand.

We attended a free screening Thursday night, so while we politely stayed, my wife and I definitely share the thought of leaving. I think the mistake we made was trying to think of this as a Jackass movie. I couldn't believe how long this felt for an 80 minute movie. Chris Pontius brings this movie to screeching halt every time he shows up on screen. This is largely because I can't tell if he just doesn't know how to act or if he showed up to set drunk/high and an Assistant Director just pointed him in the needed direction.

The best adjustment to your expectations I can make on Action Point is that this is a movie that wants to evoke Caddyshack and Meatballs, but Johnny Knoxville can only do so much of the heavy lifting to make it feel genuine with a cast that brings it all down.
