theres a C grade movie available

Looks like it's time for everybody to start ****ting all over Punisher 04 now that there's a new hotness on the way.

Isn't Born the one where he makes a deal with death in Vietnam or whatever and that kinda leads to his family's eventual death? Am I remembering that right?

Only if you believe the voiceover that story is an actual sentient being instead of just a literary construct.

It's dumb.

Insightful commentary.

Wow, he was actually my choice for The Punisher :woo: He's gonna be great!

Lol punisher 04 was always mediocre, It was mediocre in 04 and its mediocre now. Same with war zone, just god awful.
No amount of rewatching will fix that for me.

To each his own. I love 04 personally (although I agree that War Zone is crap)

I'm with you but it was mostly Jane's performance that made it for me. I just love the guy and how passionate and committed he was to it (and think he's an underrated talent in general). I didn't really care for Stevenson's version (It felt like a modernized version of Dolph Lundgren's Punisher).

Here's an interesting interview with Jane, from earlier this year:

http://www.iamrogue.com/news/interviews/item/12752-iar-exclusive-interview-thomas-jane-talks-‘vice’-directing-‘a-magnificent-death-from-my-shattered-hand’-and-why-hes-done-playing-‘the-punisher’.htm

Finally, I’m a big fan of your work in The Punisher, and the short film The Punisher: Dirty Laundry. Now that Marvel Studios has the rights to the character again, I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before Frank Castle appears in one of the upcoming Marvel films or TV shows. I know that you loved playing that character. Have you had any discussions with Marvel Studios about reprising your role in the future, or are you ready to pass the baton to another actor?

Jane: I feel like I've done it. That's why I did the short film. I wanted to create something that was truer to my own vision of what that movie could be. I feel like I put that out there. It was really well received. I hope that The Punisher will continue. I hope they get an idea of what it can be and how to make it successful. I hope that they use that short film as a template for how to make it truer to what that character is. I feel like I've done it even though it was a short film. I said what I wanted to say with that guy. I don't think I ever really was the perfect Frank Castle.

Really? Why do you say that?

Jane: I look at him as Italian. A guy who, I guess I'm the right age now, but I would see him as a weathered guy. My body is not quite perfect for Frank. I would see Frank as more of a square jawed, lock-jawed kind of guy. I don't know who it would be. I think you'd need an unknown to play Frank. He’s really the ideal *******!

Yeah, but that's dumb.
Care to elaborate?

Isn't Born the one where he makes a deal with death in Vietnam or whatever and that kinda leads to his family's eventual death? Am I remembering that right?

The voice in his head is open to interpretation, its never expressly stated that its Death or even supernatural if I recall correctly.

Not only is this great casting but I love Jon Bernthal and I'm so happy to see him land this. A huge oppurtunity for a guy that really deserves it.

Great interview and I agree about Jane being under-rated. Sadly I've seen him in some really low grade films lately.

I really like the jail scene between Lou Gossett Jr and Dolph Lundgren. Say what you want about the movie but Gossett Jr really brought it in that scene. He had disdain for Frank's actions yet still held out hope he could save him from himself.

Jake: What you call 125 murders in 5 years?
The Punisher: Work in progress

Whatever it was I hated it. It felt really contrived and unnecessary for the character.

Good interview... Jane actually seems to care about the character. I always like an actor more when they have respect for the character they're playing, and know what they're about. That chump playing Captain Boomerang in Suicide Squad is a prime example of what I don't like... the idiot "cringed" when he heard the name of who he'd be playing because he signed on to the movie without knowing a damn thing about it.

Huh? This is the first I'm hearing of this. Do you have a link? Anyway, I know everyone hates Jai Courtney but we can't expect every actor out there to be a huge fan of comic books before they even appear in a CBM. And if all Courtney knew about his character was that his name is "Captain Boomerang"... Well, I think it's understandable why he might cringe.

I'm so glad we're not digging for over-the-top ridiculous reasons to s*** on Jai Courtney. :o

He didn't know anything about because the movie itself didn't matter to Courtney. His reason for signing on was for the chance to work with David Ayer.

Say what you will about the movie. But that film had some memorable lines from Frank.

The Punisher: I still talk to God sometimes, I ask him if what I'm doing is right or wrong, I'm still waiting for an answer, and until I get one, I'll be waiting, watching, THE GUILTY WILL BE PUNISHED!

Gianni Franco: There's a limit to revenge, you know.
The Punisher: I guess I just haven't reached mine yet.

and of course the last line/warning to boss' kid....

The Punisher: You're a good boy, Tommy. Grow up to be a good man. Because if you don't... I'll be waiting.

As for TJ, his best work as Frank was in the 2005 video game. Loved that game.

As many things as Garth Ennis did right with the Punisher, I was never fond of the idea that Frank Castle was already a psychopath before his family was killed. So I hope that this interpretation doesn't go in that direction.

This is great casting. I'm so ready for the Punisher to finally be done right on screen.

I don't care what anybody says. Dolph Lundgren was the best Punisher. IMO he's a merciless killing machine, end of story.
