Jordan Peele to Produce Twilight Zone Reboot

So this is coming out next week?

But are these just remakes of old episodes? The first one seems to be just the Nightmare at 20,000 ft episode with William Shatner, and then with John Lithgow for the movie.

I was hoping we'd get some new episodes, but even from the trailer it looks like we're getting other remakes, like the other Shatner episode, "Nick of Time" with that fortune teller thing.

The first two on April 1. Then one each week starting April 11.

Of the first four, the only one that is somewhat a remake is the Nightmare at 30000 Feet (this time a bit higher it seems). The other three are originals. One of them is very similar to a Night Gallery episode though. Somewhat.

First episode is available for free on Youtube. Even though I saw the ending coming about halfway through, they really pulled the entire episode off with finesse, intelligence and charm. I love the prestige they've returned to the Twilight Zone. This show acts as a canvas that allows these actors to really express different aspects of their acting abilities that we haven't seen before. Since the first episode is titled, "The Comedian", it's only natural that the standouts would be the two actual comedians of the cast. Three if you count the black actress, I loved her. I'd like to see her in the MCU, she's Monica Rambeau material. I have to give it up to Kumail Nanjani and Tracy Morgan, I will never view them in the same bright light again. And I say that with the best of intentions; they both pulled off some devilishly engaging performances that brought the house down. The entire cast pulled their weight, I didn't see a single bad apple in the bunch. Still, none of this could have been pulled off without a great director and writer. I heard that the director also worked on Black Mirror, and it positively shows. It truly takes a certain talent to make Tracy Morgan's performance menacing, especially when he's clearly reveling in the trademark goofiness that we all know him for. The cinematography was excellent and the writing was sharp. The script knew when it had to be funny, especially at the beginning where the jokes purposely aren't landing. I felt connected to the audience because I laughed when they laughed, which made watching this episode a very enveloping and satisfyingly eerie experience. And one last thing, I absolutely adored the intro. 9/10

This is what I was wondering, the descriptive 'leads' for the 'new' episodes sound like just re-makes of the original series episodes. I was really hoping for all new writing and delivery.

Well the trailer looked like it had that fortune teller thing in it that Shatner kept consulting. I don't really want to see modern remakes of the old ones, otherwise I could just watch the originals instead.

Maybe they will have some new ones, but I hope they will be decent twists and proper social commentary. I don't want them taking a Star Trek Discovery approach to it.

one of the episodes is on Youtube FYI

directing, editing and acting was good. but when its almost 100% predictable? i dont know.

first episode was 50min and second 30min. smart choice with the second ep. it was veery tight and the fast pace worked with the story.

I get people complaining that the second episode on the airplane is a remake, but what about the first episode about the comedian? That didn't seem like a remake...either I never saw the original episode(plenty I haven't seen), or some people here aren't even giving the show a chance before seemingly writing it off.

The first episode is free, so what's holding some of you back from checking it out? It literally costs you nothing but your time.

I’d watch it but it’s only available to watch for people living in the US. For some reason, they blocked it for the rest of the world to enjoy.

If you have Opera vous can try the build-in VPN. I will try that myself at home.
I only found video on YT with a link to an external streaming site....
Will use other means :)
Edit
First ep was Ok, the new intro and speech are fine. I liked J.Peele intro/end, funny how he used a book and a glass to have his hand buzy like R.Sterling with his cigarette.

The expectation of a shocking twist works against the two episodes.

Removing such expectations, I found that the stories worked as parables with a weighted moral lesson at the end

The original show worked that way too. It's why the episodes hold up to multiple viewings.

exactly. that's why I find that the criticisms about "the comedian" episode ending's lack of punch and the monster in the "nightmare at 30,000FT"
not being an actual monster but the monstrosity of the effects of good intentions
to be odd.

The twist shouldn't be shocking but rather, it should hammer home the moral of the episode.

Saw the first episode. Samir should've erased the comedian who granted him those erasing powers. That wouldn't have given him success but at least he would've had his old life back where his nephew still existed and his girlfriend hadn't broken up with him, because that comedian wouldn't have given him those powers in the first place.

BTW his girlfriend was played by Amara Karan who was in Stan Lee's Lucky Man, which in itself had a slightly Twilight Zone-ish premise.

Didn't find any of the comedic material funny. It seems they were just rants and anything he said they would've laughed at.

I didn't get the bit about the hedge fund investors though. He erased two of them but there was still one there but now with a woman. But why was he alarmed about that?

I felt like "The Comedian" was 15ish minutes too long, but I enjoyed it. I loved 30,000 FT. That is the kind of Twilight Zone I love. Really well put together, all around. Strong performances, great structure, a fun little thing that makes it unique (the podcast) and the ending got me. A great remake, that stands on its own.

Didn't like ep03, I found it too much on the nose and beside the macguffin it wasn't really "twilightish".
Ep04 was better and felt like the old show but it also didn't feel new, it reminded me of an old episode
the one in the dinner with all these people that happen to be aliens.

I also think that maybe, the episodes should be shorter, so far the stories aren't original enough for the running time, the viewer has too much time to guess the ending and even more so if one watched the old show.

So A Traveler... I adored this episode. Already a bit of a classic for me. Know I will be doing that episode every Christmas. Also Marika Sila, definitely a new crush.

Yeah ! ..said no one on this board but thanks for relaying the news nevertheless.
I watched all episodes so far...even for free I am not sure to bother with season 2.

I could be wrong but there seems to be no hype for this show at all... I don't know anyone who watches it, and basically the only reason I'm aware that it even exists is because I saw this thread here.

I thought something like a Twilight Zone reboot would be a big deal to people, but apparently not.

Catching up on the show. So far the only episode I've enjoyed was "A Traveler". Currently on "The Wunderkind". It's not bad so far.

I think it was when it was originally announced, especially with Jordan Peele behind it. But since the first few episodes got such a poor reception, I think the hype died quickly.

Unfortunately, none of the Twilight Zone reboots have been able to capture the magic of the original. Black Mirror is maybe the only anthology show that has come close.
