Jurassic World: Dominion

I expected Dodson to kill that one black scientist in that one scene after he found out he was helping Malcolm. But he just lets him walk away?

Keep in mind: morally right characters can't die by a dinosaur's hand in the Jurassic Park franchise anymore, it sends a bad message and you don't want kids to feel sad. Only bad people can die. Especially the bad people. Can't show dinosaurs kill good people like past movies because they are perfectly innocent, harmless creatures. :o

TL;DR - Zara's death and its controversy (while justified, mind you) has done reprehensible damage to the franchise and made Colin Trevorrow chicken out on killing any other ethical character by dino chow. See that one servant lady from Fallen Kingdom whose death scene by the Indoraptor was cut and now she just disappears from the movie altogether.

Maisie's nanny? I didn't about know that. Interesting.

Yep. Here's a BTS pic of it:

I always found it odd that her character had just vanished from the movie without explanation, but after learning about this, it made sense. Trevorrow likely wanted to avoid another Zara situation as pointed out in my previous post.

No lie, I almost expected Ramsay to reveal that he’s a human/dino hybrid and then eat Dodgson. This movie was THAT stupid.

J.A. Bayona directed Fallen Kingdom so it would have been his call to cut it but either way I think you're right. I don't remember there being a huge amount of backlash over Zara's death but it did seem a bit too mean-spirited for an innocent character. I also don't think shying away from killing any non-villainous characters in Fallen Kingdom and Dominion was the proper response to that (with the exception of Cromwell's character in FK who wasn't even killed by a dinosaur). After all, the series as a whole is no stranger to killing off characters who didn't deserve it. Besides Zara, Eddie in TLW and the guy in JP3 who wasn't even a real mercenary who got a claw to the back and his neck snapped by a raptor come to mind.

Udesky's death never fails to make me laugh. It's when we got to full on psychopath dinosaurs! When that raptor stabs him in the back with its razor I'm half expecting it to say, "Where's the ****ing money?!"

And yet surprisingly it's the only one of the original three movies to paint the raptors in a somewhat sympathetic light even after they pull that stunt since they only want their eggs back. When you think about it, it's actually shocking that the raptors didn't straight up murder Alan and the others after that whole ordeal in the end. Like, the raptors would be completely justified in killing the lot of them after they chased them across the island for their eggs. Unless of course they knew that Billy, the ***hole that took them in the first place, wasn't there with them so they figured it wasn't worth it. :o

It’s kind of been my issue with Raptors post-Jurassic Park is they were never scary again like they were in that first movie.

The Lost World had that amazing long grass scene but then kind of became goofy smashing into things after that. Their intelligence definitely seemed to have been lower. JP3, I like they were smart again but like you said, they just wanted their eggs which kind of takes the danger away a bit that they aren’t just wanting to hunt and kill. Then, of course, the Jurassic World era they’re trained and all that which lowers the danger.

But that first movie they were smart, they were killers and they just wanted to hunt and kill ala the shark in Jaws.

Looks like it's just shy of $2 million away from it.

Nice. Second movie of the year! Can’t believe it’s non-MCU movies that are in the billion dollar club so far. Might change with BP2.

Is BP2 getting a China release? I don’t think Doctor Strange or Thor got one this year.

Finally saw this. This franchise has fallen so far. Effects that look worse today than 25 years ago. A story so boring that I fell asleep at least twice. They completely wasted the original cast. Even JP3 used Alan better.
