I know everyone wants to talk about there being plenty of time for post, which is true. But you know, it doesn't always happen that way. Most of the time the CGI gets get that much better.

There's still seven months.

Literally no point in worrying over this until we see the final product in June.

I can't wait for the trailer on Thanksgiving! This is one of my most anticipated movies for 2015. I just hope I will be able to see the full glory of the trailer with family around Thursday lol. One of my hopes for this movie is a surprise cameo from Grant, Ian, Saddler, or the kids. Could love for the movie to give us some closer to their characters or there whereabouts etc. Ian's reaction to a functional park would be pretty awesome I say ha.

I think more then just the CGI, the look of the film is just not what I was expecting. Not after the early stills and promotional material. The film looks a bit artificial, whether it is the practical or the CGI.

I did find the shot of Prater hilarious. Could be straight out of GotG, especially with the vest.

I am not worrying. Just point out how often this excuse is used and how often it doesn't change. Few films ever have had the budget of the Hobbit trilogy. The vast majority of the CGI in those films reflected the trailers. That includes both the good and the bad.

Guys it WAY to early to be complaining about CGI or visuals when the movie is like SEVEN months away. It's still in post production, so let's just be glad we are actually getting a teaser trailer this week. Wait at least until you seen a trailer closer to release or in June when you actually see the movie before complaining about CGI and visuals.

That gate is not the same gate of the 93 JP, it's going to be used by a monorail and it looks bigger. Still, the movie still has 6 months of perfecting those shots, it's perfectly natural for the effects not being "up to snuff" at this point.

Changes Smaug's design six months before release.
Improvises Desolation of Smaug's final act mere weeks before release (he confesses that he basically winged it. They were late in turning the film over because his crew had to pull an all-nighter to get it done).

I give Jackson all the credit in the world for Lord of the Rings, but this is proving to be a constant issue with him. It borders on incompetence at this point. Especially for a multi-billion dollar franchise.

I'm kind of suprised by some of the responses here...

I thought it looked great and strongly harkened back to the original. The movie needs to be fresh on its own while still paying homage to the original which that short tease seemed to implicate well. The simple piano take on the classic theme was a bonus!

It's hard to dislike Jackson because I too watched the bonus features for 'DoS'. He comes off as a really nice guy, and i think it would be a dream to be on his crew. At the sometime, he's so down to the wire with stuff. And not knowing what to do in the final Smaug scenes is crazy. It's cool only if it were an indie movie but when you have hundreds of animators waiting for you come up with something at the last minute, it's really inconsiderate.

And what's worse is that the art suffers for it. It really explains why the liquid gold looked so bad. The CG artists didn't have enough time to anything; they couldn't even research how liquid gold would behave, so the any kind of research is thrown out the window.

I think it looks great as well, the cgi seems fine to me. The whole look and tone as well like you said. Being fresh and it's own thing while paying homage to the original. The piano theme was chilling and awesome.

man JJ is such a smart producer. adding extra film grain to the movie and adding extra dirt to every set prop. there is no way anyone will complain about teh SW footage.

of course JW will look modern since its filmed in 2014. no exaggerated color correction and contrast. it looks good IMO.

It just looked so bizarre to me. So sci-fi, which I assume is the intent. Makes me want to see what other vehicles they have in this place. Is it gonna be JP by way of Tomorrowland?
