Jurassic World - Part 6

I realized what's different in Jurassic World compared to last three movies, in last three movies we had some scientist / paleontologist as the main character (as protagonist)

Now in the current installment (Jurassic World), I don't think that character played by Chris Partt is a scientist. Absence of any person representing the scientific community turns this into a generic popcorn thriller.

I think Bryce Dallas Howard has quite big role and she is scientist. Also Pratt's character probably know dinosaur behaviours better than Grant since he is actually training them.

With that said, characters like Grant, Malcom made Jurassic Park extra special. (As well as how it was slow pace, natural looking, character driven movie)

Jurassic World seems like fast paced, action driven movie with too hollywood looking main characters.

I hope they build up well the movie. It took an hour to see T-Rex in original JP but it was awesome build up and made everything after much more thrilling.

Godzilla had those qualities but unfortunately main character (and actor) was so boring to watch. If Cranston's character was the main man, it would be hell of a movie.

No, she's an executive.

I just hope they don't make Chris Pratt too much of a cool character. It's very easy to write a character like his to be this really awesome dude who just comes out of nowhere on his motorbike, strangles two raptors with his bare hands while dodging a T-Rex.

He may be the raptor trainer, but I just hope they add some fear and depth to his character. I assume most of the "underdog" status will come from the fact that the I-Rex is a brand new threat that he isn't prepared for, but I just hope he also shows some concern for the dinosaurs in general, and that he respects the forces involved.

No, no, no. T-Rex vision is based on movement, if it's running towards you, stand the f*** still!

That is tried in The Lost World novel and it results in the T-Rex getting lunch.

I could swear there was a line in that book too about that scene that the T-Rex wasn't in a hurry to eat Grant because it had just eaten, not because it couldn't see him and that he just got really lucky with an old theory.

I would have to read the book again to remember the exact argument Levine uses to explain the T-Rex's behavior in the Land Cruiser attack, but there definitely is one.

Yup. Levine states that Grant must have gotten his "motion-based vision" idea from a theory of a fictional paleontologist who claimed the Rex brain was similar to a frog's. Levine says it would be stupid for an apex predator to only see motion when "playing dead" is a common prey tactic. Levine surmises that Grant was just supremely lucky that the Rex wasn't hungry and was only trying to scare Grant from its territory.

I assume he'll escape the film alive, and appear in sequels if they get off the ground.

I wonder who will be killed off? I think Wu is likely, given he's behind the science of the i-Rex.

Here is Owen's (Pratt) raptor squad from the film. Names are Blue, Charlie, Delta and Echo

So they're like trainable but not tame. Basically like lions, they can view a human as an alpha but are still dangerous.

For some reason that pic of the raptors is hilarious to me.

I hope the raptors aren't turned into a joke. What made the first film so great is how terrified you'd be to be even close to their cage. Having them "trainable" takes away the terror a bit.

They gotta evolve the story.

Not at all, it actually makes it and them more terrifying. Because they can be trained but not tamed. They're still wild animals just like any animals in real life captivity that are trained. And when they turn on their trainers, that is terrifying. So I strongly disagree with your statement that it takes away the terror.
