So I was avoiding the scene, as the film isn't that far off, but the controversy made me too curious. That is not sexist. Is it cliched? Yes. Bad? maybe, though I like it a bit. Like a low rent version of "His Girl Friday", one of my favorite films. But if anyone is taking a shot here, it is scientist, not women.

We scientists take shots all the time, also this ties into a lot of general cultural stuff.

Genetically modified foods, vaccines, large hadron collider, etc. let's just not mess with nature.

Is it just me, or does it seem like Hollywood has no idea what to do with Bryce Dallas Howard? They always shove her into random franchises like Spider-Man, Terminator, Twilight, and now Jurassic Park. And they're always the 3rd or 4th films of these franchises. I can seriously see her being dropped in the middle of Mission: Impossible 6 or Transformers 5. I don't mind her, by the way. I like her. It just seems like she's turned into "Supporting Actress in Third Sequel". I feel like Jessica Chastain came out of nowhere and snatched up all of her roles.

Most filmmakers are very polite about other people's work, but Whedon likes to continuously take a **** on other filmmakers work.

I've also heard him criticise Watchmen, Dark Knight, Prometheus, ...

I'll be totally honest (and I know it's not a popular opinion) - I'm not really a fan of any of his work. Like, literally not a single thing of his has appealed to me. I get the impression that he smells his own farts when in reality half of his work has been canceled.

But, there are a few shots that kinda' focus on Captain's ass in Avengers and TWS, and also pointless shots of Thor topless, as well as female characters commenting on his physique. Not to mention that extended shot of Pratt half naked getting hosed down in GoTG.

Most of this sexism stuff we hear about is kinda' dumb, IMHO. Movies would be boring if all characters were always PC.

I could kinda' see that. She seemed like the moral center of the group to me, tho. And she had a cool background with the Thanos stuff and the rivalry with Nebula.

They made Gamora a kill joy, who needs to be saved twice. The Gamora from the comics would slice Gunn in half of the insult. She'd also have a nice quip to go with it.

She was the only one with a sense of honor among them. She's the one that wanted to stop the main villain from the get go. If you think about it, everyone else were the killjoys. All they wanted was to get the money and part ways, and they complained the whole time.

No, she was the killjoy. Everyone else was having fun. Star-lord, Drax, Rocket and Groot continually get to be fun and engaging. Very much like Gamora in the comics. I like some of her lines, but no one walked out of the theater saying, "my Gamora was so cool and hilarious". That applied to everyone else.

If Chastain snapped up Howard's roles, it's because she's a better actress. Howard was good in The Village but she hadn't been impressive in anything else.

Charisma got pregnant during Season 4 of Angel. So, Joss ruined/wrote out her character. From what Charisma has said, Joss wasn't nice about it either. It apparently really ruined their relationship. She almost didn't come back for the final season of Angel, until she read the script.

I understand that it was a surprise, and it would've ruined some of their plans. But the anger Joss had toward Charisma was the exact opposite anyone who proclaims to be a feminist should have.

Lol, they even replaced the original actress for the role she was cast in Twilight to make room for Howard.

He likes to blame others too if his stuff ever gets criticized.

He still defends his "Do you know what happens to a toad when it gets struck by lightning?" line in X-Men saying that it was the direction and Berry's line reading to why it's bad instead of admitting, it's just a bad line.

He says his Alien: Resurrection script was ruined by the director instead of taking some of the blame that it wasn't a great script to begin with (which can be read online).

It's basically a scene that is trying to ape 1980's Lawrence Kasdan but the screenwriter isn't as talented.
