If by "weird" you mean "ominous," then I'd have to say I agree there.

Weird that it lifts on Wednesday.
Yes, that is a better word.If by "weird" you mean "ominous," then I'd have to say I agree there.
Whose taking things out of context? I asked a simple question. The raptors in film one set a trap. So why wouldnt one dinosaur be able to push another dinosaur off a ledge that it can clearly see?
Dolphins are highly intelligent. Crows are great problem solvers. Some pack animals can set traps and hunt and are intelligent enough to hold grudges against one individual animal. Hell, ants have proven themselves to be problem solvers. Animals are a lot smarter than you give them credit for. So this dinosaur having the wherewithal to do what it does is not farfetched.
Indeed. And the thing about Mad Max is, its embargo didn't lift the Wednesday before, it lifted the Monday before. Just a couple of days difference but it speaks volumes, imo. And some random reviews were published a week before on that one, too.Yes, that is a better word.
People keep bringing up Mad Max but the fact of the matter is most movies that wait a day or two before release to allow reviews to be posted will be getting middling reviews at best. I'm hoping I'm wrong.
Middling reviews doesn't mean that it won't be a fun film to me and others of course but I am expecting middling reviews at best right now.
Yeah, it's basically an off-brand LieMax. I have both RPX and LieMax near me, and I choose LieMax, but when whatever I want to see isn't showing on the IMAX screen at my theater, RPX makes for a decent substitute.Considering I don't read/care about reviews or ratings this embargo means nothing to me haha. I'm just getting super anxious now for Saturday afternoon so I can go and finally see this. I'm seeing it in RPX anyone ever seen anything in RPX?
When the first movie in the franchise is well received (Superman The movie, Jurassic Park) and the last movie is not (Superman Returns, Jurassic Park 3), A movie will get middling reviews (for example Man of Steel) due to unreasonable expectations.
Studios have to prepare for that.
Will I regret getting an RPX ticket? Haha it's all I could get so.
Mad Max (well received) > Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (poorly received) > Mad Max: Fury Road (well received).
Batman (well received) > Batman & Robin (poorly received) > Batman Begins (well received).
Etc...
I'm probably going to see Jurassic World but I've been having reservations about it for a while now. Not that I was ever expecting a great movie because I wasn't. I expect nothing more than a fun popcorn movie...like the original.
I like the original because of the excellent direction/set pieces but I've always felt that it's script and characters were mostly weak. The Hammond character is great and Jeff Goldblum is Jeff Goldblum so those are the exceptions on the character front.
Yeah, I can give some counter examples to what I posted as well, like -
Casino Royale (well received) --> Quantum of Solace (poorly received) --> Skyfall (well received)
But, I consider those as exceptions.
Studios (and fans always have to expect a mediocre - middling reception)
As much as I really want to give this film a chance a problem has existed with this franchise ever since the first film came out that was reaffirmed when JP was re-released 2 years ago - it's nigh impossible to recapture the magic that was that first film, to this day it still holds up as one of the best cinema experiences you're likely to get.
So it is a person's fault for expecting a good movie? They can get the negative reaction and shove it you know where.
I'm seeing it this Friday with an open mind (as a movie critic should). I'm not expecting a Best Picture contender here. I am not expecting a revolution is visual effects (as JP) so I am expecting to see a fun adventure with dinosaurs. An entertainment. If I am entertained at the end, then I will give it a positive review.
