According to Latino Review, the Avalanche Studios video game franchise "Just Cause" will be coming to the big screen
According to Latino Review:
"Video games and comic books are the big hit in Hollywood and it looks like another one has been optioned for the big screen by the same guy who brought us the very cool Hitman movie. (Naked chicks and fights, so yeah, it was cool.)"

Variety has more:

Eric Eisner's L+E Pictures has optioned the film rights to Avalanche Studios' videogame franchise "Just Cause," which it will develop with producer Adrian Askarieh, of Prime Universe Prods., before shopping it to the studios.

Michael Ross ("Turistas") will pen the script.

Property revolves around Rico Rodriguez, aka the Scorpion, a black ops agent who carries out deadly missions for the U.S. government that come in the form of creating chaos and destabilizing rogue nations from within and turning the bad guys against each other.

The character's calling card is his grappling hook and penchant for aerial stunts with his unique parachute, putting him in unusual action scenarios like hijacking fighter jets in midair.

Oh god, I want him to take over a helicopter in the movie same way he does in the game. It's so damn ridiculous. + slow-mo when he goes through the propellers.

This is one of my problems with video game movies: it all comes from the same producers and most of them are still unproven & excel at mediocrity.

Well I can already tell this is gonna flat out suck major pooh bears.

that's sad you guys dont even give the film a chance. Just have faith that they'll do the right thing and give us a great film

who am I kidding, this film is gonna blow. Why? Just Cause every other video game film has been either subpar (Mortal Kombat, Tekken) or pure trash (Street Fighter, The King of Fighters)

^Like all videogame movies...

Prince of Persia was my hope but alas, it disapointed.

Seriously, it's not as hard as people think it is. Take the core elements of what made the game great like the story and characters. Fell free to make changes. This is another vsiaul medium. The number one thing is to not feel like they just played a video game. I want a good film. I don't care how accurate or how many levels are brought from the game to film, do what makes sense for the film. If the fans whine about too much, tough. They need to understand being faithful doesn't make it a good movie, it makes it redundant for a video game film.

There is entirely too much videogame in videogame movies. When they start treating them like actual films they will be rewarded with good reviews and big boxoffice.

Silent Hill was a prime example of what is wrong with videogame movies. It's a very cinematic game with an interesting storyline, it should have been easy to make a decent horror film but the movie was crap. It was crap because of the terrible dialogue, acting and script.

I played Just Cause 2. The story didn't pull me in at all so I stopped playing through story mode quickly. But the environment was beautifully done and huge (I mean HUGE). So that was great.

Movie? Whatever.

The thing is, how can you make a cinematic video game into something even more cinematic? It's actually not that hard to figure out. As much as you love those cinematic moments in the game and would like to see them recreated, don't put it on film. What's the point if we've seen it already? You have to get past your longings to do something and accept that it isn't good to directly recreate things from the game. Come up with something on your own.

A Bioshock film could be easy or difficult depending on how you look at it. A film is definitely doable. You'll have to change alot of stuff arou,d but keep the atmospehere and the themes and the story intact and that's all you need.

Yeah, I'd perfer if they just used the characters and took the movie down it's own path. Like, I didn't have a problem with the Resident Evil movies doing their own thing I just didn't like the execution and the fact that it stared a character that wasn't in the games.

still trying to figure how they messed up max pane that should of been easy lol

I think Oscar Isaac(Robin Hood,Agora,Body Of Lies,SuckerPunch) would make a great Rico Rodriguez
