Cartoon Network has announced a brand-new, quarter-hour animated series - Justice League Action - from Warner Bros. Animation, based on the iconic characters from DC Entertainment.

Kevin Conroy -- the famous voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne from the acclaimed 1990s Batman: The Animated Series and Arkham game series, among other Batman adaptations -- will make his return to the character for Justice League Action, marking the first time he's voiced Batman in an ongoing animated series since Justice League Unlimited ended in 2006.

In addition, Conroy's longtime animated antagonist, Mark Hamill, will return as the Joker, as part of a voice lineup that includes James Woods as Lex Luthor and Diedrich Bader (himself a former Batman, from the Brave and the Bold animated series) as Booster Gold. Warner Bros. notes there are more, still to be announced, cast members. Notably, we still don't know who is voicing Superman and Wonder Woman, despite their prominence in the first image from the series.

Per the press release, on Justice League Action, "Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman lead the DC Comics Super Heroes against their most infamous foes in adventures packed with relentless thrills, fun and action. No need to wait for the good stuff to start, each eleven-minute episode jumps in with lightning-paced action and heroics. Whether defending the Earth, facing invaders from space, or battling the bizarre forces of magic, the always-rotating team of Justice League heroes, are up to any challenge."

The new series is the first DC Comics-based franchise to launch on Cartoon Network since the highly-successful Teen Titan Go!

Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) serves as executive producer with Butch Lukic (Justice League, Batman Beyond), Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series) and Jim Krieg (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) serving as producers.

There is no set start date for Justice League Action at this time.

Not crazy about the art but the voice cast has me interested.

Diedrich Bader as Booster Gold is inspired casting. Wanna know whose voicing Supes now.

Agreed, I hope either Tim Daly or George Newbern voice Superman.

I hope this toon isn't all comedy silliest like teen titans go. But cool that Conroy and Hamill are in it.

Yeah hopefully it's more like Brave and the Bold than Teen Titans Go

The only thing I don't like about this Superman design is that he is back to having black dots for eyes.

I heard rumors of a new cartoon coming but I was hoping for something more serious. It's kind of dumb to assume that kids don't want to watch anything serious like back in the 90s. I actually like the new TT show but I really hoped this would be serious with less cartoony and more comic-book like animation.

I'd like to think Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill wouldn't agree to star in a Justice League show that's like Teen Titans Go.

Let's hope not, but the animation doesn't give any indication that this would be serious. The designs are so simple they don't even look like they could go on a cereal box

how do we know this wont be serious. No where has it said its just straight up for goofs like teen titans go is.

If we judge by the animation of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, it looks like its going to be very basic. Their designs are very simplistic, for example Wonder Woman. Her overly large eyes, small nose, the lack of detail on her body (like muscle or cleavage) all indicate a simples design that a small child can understand. That's what gives me the impression that this will be juvenile, maybe not TT Go style, but still very juvenile.

Now the design of the characters in the background look a little more detail and proportionate. If it were that style, then I have way more hope for the show.

What if it's like Spectacular Spider-Man? I recall the designs for that show weren't great but allowed solid animation and got a strong following. Personally, I never cared for the show at all but hey it could happen.

If it's like Spectacular Spider-Man then that would be great IMO.

Yeah that show was pretty good but Spider-Man lends himself to those types of designs. I'll still give this a chance and keep my hopes up!

I thought Conroy and Hamill were doing an animated Killing Joke, not this 11 minute stuff?

Art reminds me of 'Kid Stuff'

conroy and hammill are doing both the killing joke animated movie and this cartoon.

Brent Spiner has been cast to voice the RIDDLER.
Hope he is better at this villain, he was terrible as the Joker in YJ.
