Who: Kayla Smith

When: Last nite...July 4th, 2007

Where: Mississippi River Levees; Downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana


Last nite...Kayla Smith decided to go to the Levees to watch the fireworks go off, but unfortunately Kayla ran into a little of trouble....A couple of African Americans started to argue and a gun fight began. One african american was killed, and Kayla was shot in the stomach. The bullet ended up hitting her spine in a couple different places rendering her incapable of being able to walk possible for the rest of her life. This is a 16 year 10th grade student from Hosanna Christian Academy. I went to Hosanna with her for 5 years and I still can't get over this tragedy. She was the one that paid for some other person's mistake. I just wanted to let yall know.

I would like for yall to pray for Kayla, her family and friends. Thank you.

I had a couple of other friends that were there, but they ran off when the gun were pulled out...It's just sad that a 16 yr old girl has to pay for someone's stupid stupid mistake. Alot of police and homeland security are out looking for these murderers and I'm pretty sure they won't be coming back for questioning after they get to them...& that's the way I want it to go down too!

There's not much more i can say. Murphy *****s on the wrong people sometimes. May i ask how she is doing emotionally? I know what it's like to suddenly lose much of your mobility and it can really f**k you up.

I will pray for her, both for her to regain her mobility and that those around her are able to comfort her through this. I know she'll be needing friends right now.
 
I think it's important to note that these were African Americans. So important that it should be mentioned twice.

yeah, sad story, and I'm sure it matters to certain people that they were AFRICAN-AMERICAN... yeah, didn't need to be said...
 
She was SHOT! By COLORED people! They were NEGROS! They shot her! The COLORED'S...I mean....er.....African-Americans. Isn't that what those people like to be called these days? :dry:

I'll never forget the one time I heard my schizophrenic grandmother say "Coloreds". It's still as hilarious now as it was then.

Yeah, my grandmother used that term, too. To black peoples FACES! :eek: I can remember being mortified when I was 16 years old when she told the kid bagging our groceries that he was "a very nice young colored boy". He wanted to punch my Grandma. I kinda wanted to let him. :o

Who gives a f**K who shot her...... The important thing is that she was SHOT not WHAT COLOUR the shooter was
 
Very sad when criminality affects the innocent.

As far as terms, unfortunately blacks cannot decide on what they want to be called, so "miscommunication" is going to happen frequently. I've heard every term derided by someone. Whites have no problem being called white. African American is stupid because they're not African. If that's the case, I should be called Irish Native American American.

BTW, pointing out that it was blacks behind the shooting is NOT racist. Its just extra details. If a black girl had been shot by whites, you sure as **** would have heard that much detail. He didn't say anything racist or derogatory about blacks, so let's get off the PC soapbox.
