When: Last nite...July 4th, 2007
Where: Mississippi River Levees; Downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Last nite...Kayla Smith decided to go to the Levees to watch the fireworks go off, but unfortunately Kayla ran into a little of trouble....A couple of African Americans started to argue and a gun fight began. One african american was killed, and Kayla was shot in the stomach. The bullet ended up hitting her spine in a couple different places rendering her incapable of being able to walk possible for the rest of her life. This is a 16 year 10th grade student from Hosanna Christian Academy. I went to Hosanna with her for 5 years and I still can't get over this tragedy. She was the one that paid for some other person's mistake. I just wanted to let yall know.
I would like for yall to pray for Kayla, her family and friends. Thank you.

The article says she was shot in the chest and that she's in stable condition. It makes no mention of her spine being hit.
And it's a terrible tragedy that she got shot, but did you really have to go out of your way to point out that they were African-American? It just comes off as racist and bigoted, dude.
