Of course they were black. It was an innocent young wallflower of white womanhood (and some bloke, but who cares about him, unless he was the star quarter runner or shot base stop or pointy hoop guard or some other position in those bizarre excuses you have for team sports) that got shot. It had to be black people, cos they do all that shooting of people in Los Angeles.

Of course, the true aboriginal africans from the sub saharan areas would tend to be black, but there would still be some white people, mainly jaapies and saffers, but they are still african)

Im not having a go at any individual with the above (well, maybe the bigots, just to confuse them), but its one of my real bugbears, that african american seems to mean black people and black people only. I mean, africa is a bloody continent. I could understand (tho i would disagree with it) if some one wanted to be a nigerian american or something. But African American to mean black and black alone is bloody stupid, IMO)

and I still say its important to get past all that sheyat. Im white. I wish i were just english. I wish that we didnt have to be white, black, african american, or whatever. I wish colour just didnt matter that much, cos we bleed red blood, but unfortuantly it does, to people of every colour, and its rather sad that it still does, imo.

I had a couple of other friends that were there, but they ran off when the gun were pulled out...It's just sad that a 16 yr old girl has to pay for someone's stupid stupid mistake. Alot of police and homeland security are out looking for these murderers and I'm pretty sure they won't be coming back for questioning after they get to them...& that's the way I want it to go down too!

Race is FREQUENTLY mentioned in articles so that it can help with finding the suspects if they are missing. They don't mention race for the victims usually since that is irrelevant, unless it was a hate crime (and hate crimes are an issue in itself). Again, there is NOTHING wrong with extra details.

The article says she was shot in the chest and that she's in stable condition. It makes no mention of her spine being hit.

And it's a terrible tragedy that she got shot, but did you really have to go out of your way to point out that they were African-American? It just comes off as racist and bigoted, dude.

Well its was a fight b/w a couple members of gang members who happened to be black...I really don't think this has anything to do with racist. It is the description of the criminal as well as a murder victim. I'm really angry about the whole situation, so I dont want to make this into some argument.

1 person was killed, and 1 injuried...Those are the facts. You know.

Well I talked to her mom and her mom told me the whole situation. Stable...I wouldn't call her condition "stable"...But she is going to survive and that's what matters. I just hope and pray she'll be able to walk again. That is all.

As far as terms, unfortunately blacks cannot decide on what they want to be called, so "miscommunication" is going to happen frequently. I've heard every term derided by someone. Whites have no problem being called white. African American is stupid because they're not African. If that's the case, I should be called Irish Native American American.

BTW, pointing out that it was blacks behind the shooting is NOT racist. Its just extra details. If a black girl had been shot by whites, you sure as **** would have heard that much detail. He didn't say anything racist or derogatory about blacks, so let's get off the PC soapbox.

Thank you for pointing that out...I mean I'm freaking stressed over that fact that she might not be able to walk again b/c someone made a horrible mistake...Then I have to deal with people trying to say calling black people "African Americans" is racist. It's just unbelievable. I am totally shocked someone would go that far. Shocking.

Ayo dog, just say gang member? Why do you gotta say A.A or African American? I mean what does it matter? What does the race have anything to do with it? You didn't tell me their height, hair color, weight or what size shoe they wear, but you gotta tell me there race. All those other details were just as irrelvant. Just be glad you did this online and not in real life.
