erc BoxOffice reports that Kevin Smith has signed on to direct the comedy Couple of *****, which Warner Bros. Pictures is targeting for a January 29, 2010 release.

Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan ("30 Rock") will star in the comedy as two veteran LAPD detectives who attempt to track down a stolen, mint-condition, 1952 baseball card.

Robb and Marc Cullen wrote the script.

I'm a big fan of Bruce but Ive never heard of the other guy and I'm a bit eh with Smith, could be fun I guess.

Never heard of Tracy Morgan?

He's a comedian, came from SNL. Not much of an actor, funny sometimes.

Well, at least Smith finally gets to direct something with Bruce Willis.

Yeah, this doesnt interest me at all.

Kevin Smith has always seemed like a funny guy, but his movies are very hit or miss for me. This seems like the latter. I wish he'd just do Red State already...

So Bruce doesn't do "The Expendables" and yet does this?

The most recent edition of Smodcast dropped a bomb-shell: Smith's best friend and producing partner-in-crime Scott Mosier wasn't going to be involved with his next film.

Instead, Mos is going to work on making his own directorial debut.

Mosier is finally going to direct something?

Smith's also been talking about how he's been offered a number of directing gigs after Zack & Miri Make a Porno.

That film's box-office under-performance really bothered Smith. I always got the impression that something went down behind the scenes because there was something...off about how Smith was acting about all of this after it opened.

Yes, I'm aware he was smoking alot of weed at the time.

Smith, in my opinion, is not a very good director. He is good when and only when he stays within his View Askew comfort zone. Both of his movies outside of the comfort zone have been entirely mediocre. I'll probably pass.

I love Smith's films, but by his own words, he doesn't consider himself much of a director. He has stated several times that he really only directs his films so he can ensure that his vision of his own script gets made. I'm curious to see where this goes.

Anyone as disappointed as I am that Bruce Willis is in this rather then The Expendables?

Why doesn't want to go ahead with Red State or his sci-fi project? Is he getting cold feet or what?

It's confirmed and It's been renamed and a little bit more of the plot revealed.

Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan will star in Warner Bros.' detective comedy "A Couple of Cops," with Kevin Smith directing his first major studio pic.

Marc Platt's producing the project, formerly titled "A Couple of *****." The scripting team of Robb and Marc Cullen penned the screenplay, centered on a pair of cops who track down a stolen baseball card, rescue a Mexican beauty and must deal with gangsters and laundered drug money.

Kevin Smith...he's finally doing it...selling out. Sad. I agree with another poster about Smith and his comfort Askew zone. But he's worn that out by now. Time to step up and play ball with the big boys. I actually like Smith, he's a decent director...but then again, I just find Jay and Silent Bob as characters entertaining in anything (even the Degrassie episodes).

I think he can be a major motion picture director, but he seems so insecure with himself directing and feels too much pressure by a studio to do things that it makes him worry about what he's doing. Could be the pot he smokes that makes him that way...but damn it, at the end of the day he still has made a film. And thats more than other can say. We're talking about a 'self made' director here, a guy who made his own film with his own money and got it sold .... and it was in Black and White 25 mm film!!

I think Kevin should have moved right on to Red State, but I guess he's feeling the pressure to make something to prove to the studio to fund that film.

From what I heard the studio doesn't wanna back it, since of the material its dealing with.

Or thats just what i read online.

I thought alot thought that after doing Zach and Miri. Since Rogen was such a big named star. And he cast other people then his regulars.

Odd, that he's directing a script someone else wrote. Hopefully it's better than Zack and Miri, that movie just seemed to be missing something, not sure what, but just wasn't as good as his other stuff.

Any chance we see Jason Mewes in this movie?

Good humor?

say what you will about zack and miri, but you can't deny routh and long rocked the **** out of that reunion scene.

anyway, curious about this. glad kevin finally got his bruce willis flick, but i wanted to see red state. oh well.

Yeah, Smith is totally "selling out" for taking a risk to work outside of his comfort zone after his most commercially appealing film outside of his cult fan-base (headlined by one of the biggest comedy stars working today, no less) fell way below projections. :whatever:

HR, the censors are changing the URL. Not a big deal, though. Glad to see WB is keeping the title the same.
