Kid Nation....Put It On Your Watch List!

Wrong. It saved for Spring, and they won't bring the measily 7 episodes back any sooner.

...It deserved at least 13. :down

Your wrong!
Go to IGN.com its one in one of the recent articles written as soon as you click on TV.

Interesting premise... Its good to see kids actually acting intelligently for a change instead of like babies or ubersuperficial... people do have brains before they turn 18, though you wouldn't know it from watching TV (or grading homework :) ).

I just saw the promo but I'll have to track down the show sometime.

Last night was another hilarity-filled ep!

My fiance watched with me, and she was in stitches as well. :woot:

I love this show for being wholesome, without coming off preachy or pretentious. It's just quality fun, and something people of all ages could get into.

....and who are these kids?!

LOL at the producers for offering them a GIANT waterslide...Genius!

I like the kid who said "To Kill or Not to Kill, That is the Question" I was laughing my ass off. These kids are hilarious, even though they are not meant to be.

Yep another quality episode last night glad the one girl decided to stay.
Anyone think Greg will never get a star? I mean he did a ton this past week to get one even had me thinking he deserves one(I think Michael definatly deserves one as well and was glad he got one)but instead of working hard another week which would have assured he would get the upcoming weeks star he is throwing a tantrum not exactly a smart move.
That and the yellow team leader needs to stop using the we are the youngest group excuse for her lazyness

Yeah, that little counsel girl (yellow leader) is a little jerk! I can already see what she's going to act like when she's an adult! :cmad:

I think it's AWESOME that Greg's not going to be able to show any self control. Yeah, he's helped the kids a lot, but he's a punk and undeserved of any money. :down

That kid is my favorite. I will stop watching this show if he leaves.

Greg had alterior motives. He was "helping" out just so he can get 20 grand. That bastard. I'm glad he didn't get the star. The kid who did get it definitely deserved it. Since Sophia and Michael both got the stars, it's up for grabs to anyone starting next week. Unless you can get a star more than once, which would seem unfair. And yeah, that girl in the yellow is a drama queen. She's going to grow up to be a b*tch (if she isn't one already). lol

I'm ready to see an 8-year-old earn a star. :) The front runners are obviously the older ones, so overcoming that disadvantage will make for good TV.

Actually, I saw last week's nielsons, and the show was down like, 36% from week 1. I think it only pulled maybe 8 million viewers in week 2. :( To that I have two things to say: First, that's a shame. Again, it's quality/WHOLESOME entertainment. And second, I don't think that nielson is getting an accurate reading. I actually went to a Nielson seminar last week for my company, and I heard from one of their top executives...even HE was dancing around certain questions from the audience about their calculations! So it's a shame if this show doesn't get a chance to grow legs over a couple of seasons the way Amazing Race did.

Greg should have gotten that star. Who gives a crap what his motivations were. He killed the chickens when no one had the balls to do it, & he fixed the water pump. 2 essential things. Not to mention his motive for doing was justified. He wanted to get into a good college. What the heck is wrong with that?

I am bummed that it seems he is going to flip out. Instead of trying harder.

Michael was just being a positive hippy. Hippies don't get things done. They supervise. He is like the Tony Randall of the group.

Just finished the first ep, this is an AWESOME show!!!!!

Seriously, a reality show WITH A POINT... what more can you ask for? Really?

And I love kids, and I love kids who speak their mind, and you get to see how deeply their thinking, and you get to hear thoughts devoid of some of the bullcrap that adults feed each other and, to me, it's fascinating...

Really, but for real, I'm glad to see kids not written as imbeciles who can't do anything for themselves. Little kids can do dishes and cook and look after each other, they don't need servants to clean up after them, they need leaders to bring out the best in them...

It's easy to tell the show is a bit staged... I can scarcely imagine how/when the kids take showers, which I'm pretty sure they're doing. Nor am I entirely sure what the kids do in all their free time while people are out getting interviews, but look how much you can bring out from some kids just by letting them believe, for even a second, that they can build a town up again.

It was Michael that fixed the water pump. That's what put him over to get the star, despite his overly tree-huggedness. :whatever:

Good thoughts. I agree completely. These kids are more endearing than any adults you see on reality shows. And how many lesser privileged people grew up in homes where CHILDREN were doing all of the household duties b/c of both parents working all the time, or only having one mom or dad?? Little kids have long been overlooked as effecient workers in our current post-modern culture. This show gets back to the roots of what children used to be good for. Do you think pioneer kids were sitting around twiddling their thumbs? No, they were working on the family farm, growing in both knowledge and experience. So I'm glad to see the worker-aspects of this show.

...One more day till new Kid Nation! :)

I thought it was Greg that came up with the plan to fix the water pump? & Tree Huggers are a waste of space in a survival situation. Thats why you don't hear about to many of them in Old West movies.

I was also thinking. Doesn't Beans have quite a bit of Protein in them? Why did they "need" to kill the chickens? Other than fried chicken being the food of the gods if cooked right.

I know. I was laughing my 'A' off when they were talking about that! Especially since I don't remember a single person in grade school, middle school, or high school using the word "protein" outside of science class?!

These kids watch too much Suvivor!

Last nights episode was another fantastic one great all around show.
I think Greg will get a star but he should have been happy for Mallory winning one as she was doing what he asked his team to do by helping out when they were the top group.
He has continued to work hard to make the town work though and definatly deserves a star before all is said and done.

Dang it! I haven't got to watch it yet, but I've got it dvr'd at home right now....I'll be watching it after work tonight.

And I know more and more people that are getting into it. I don't think Nielson's accurately measuring this show!?

Well I can only hope as I think its a great show and it must be doing ok in the ratings as I have heard they are doing a second season.

Loved the scene where Sophia knocked the kid out of the hammock and he was like I never did anything to you and her response was I know :)

This is the only reality show I can watch because the kids are real even if parts of it are staged its not like the survivor series which I cannot stand.

Damn. I totally forgot to watch the show last night. I was watching Pushing Daisies instead. Where can I see the last episode? Is it on the CBS website?

So I dvr'd and watched this last night after I got out of class, per your recommendation. It was better than I was expecting, and I'll admit that I'll at the very least watch it again for one more week. But seriously, the team council girl for yellow, she needs to go.

Agreed! That's what is adding so much tension to the show.

She doesn't deserve a council spot OR a gold star!

Just goes to show you a microcasm of what adult beauty queens deserve! *cough* Miss South Carolina *cough*

I think the protein need was fed to the kids by production to create a rift over the killing/not killing of the chickens... cuz obviously, anyone who's taken the time to learn what does/does not have protein KNOWS that beans have PLENTY or protein in them... I'd even suspect that the one cook girl with the annoying voice (14 yrs old, green, dances for money) knew and that's why she's absent/silent during that whole segment.

Speaking of which... did anyone think it odd that on like, the first day, the working class are out in the streets dancing for money to get what they want? Did that strike anyone as... functionally (but not actually) scandalous?

The other obvious stage is having Greg there... he's obviously on the show for his experience (which he seems comfortable bragging about) in manual labor, killing animals and the like... I suspect a few of them are actually good at what they do... Okay, and finally, the other obvious stage is the pioneer book, which was written like, yesterday by a bunch of executives with PowerPoint...

But I still love the show... The Yellow leader chick is insane! It's crazy! Zack (the coolest dude on the yellow squad) Is hilarious, he reminds me of me and my friends in Grade School. The fact that green monumentally sucks at challenges is fascinating... the Green leader girl was billed as "an accomplished student leader" which sounds like she was either really good at running meetings or organized volunteer work... either way... I haven't been impressed with her at all. I don't even think she knows what accent to use half the time...

le sigh... let me shut up and go find episode 3...

Well, no kidding. What next? Wrestlers take steriods?

(Don't spoil the fun for the believers)
