Kid sentenced to 1-6 years for robbing 7 cents

Good, he's a punk , if the old man had more money they would of taken it.

Doesn't matter if it was 7 cents or 700 dollars, he attacked a man pushing him to the ground and then punched him in the face. Plus, the kid had on him what (I imagine) looked like a real pistol.

Basically, f*** this kid.

First of all, it's not 1-6 years in prison as is implied by your title. It's 2-6 years in juvie for the one, and 1-4 in prison for the other.

They used real looking guns, attacked someone, and beat them in an effort to rob them. They're intent was to do that regardless of whether the old man had 7 cents of 7 thousand dollars.

When you rob a bank and pretend to have a fake gun in your shirt it's the same as if you pointed a real gun at someone (in most states). Intent is key here and while it sucks that they're going to be felons, at the age of 16 you're well aware that trying to rob someone and beat them is wrong and against the law.

This is exactly the kind of so-called reporting that annoys me. They had to the unknowing victim, guns that shot real bullets and they beat him up. The guy's in his 70's and if he had more than a dime on him they'd have taken it and every last cent he had, literally. If you rob someone and your take is a nickel or it's five grand you should be punished. Whatever he had on him was what they were taking. So they got off light IMO.

In for a penny, in for a pound.

Dumb asses.

I am pleased by responses in this thread.

The kid gets no sympathy from me.

Most of us here have parents in that age group, or one day soon will have parents in that age group. How would you like it if some punk kid beat them up just for a small amount of money? It takes a special fuse in your head to pop in order to go from merely stealing (which is wrong anyway) to actually assaulting somebody just for some quick cash.

If that was my mother or father, that kid would have to go to jail, to protect him from me.

Worlds dumbest criminals.

* Holds up gun:

"This is a hold up G! Give us the 7 cents for our home boy fifty cent, yo!"

That kid was extremely lucky that his arm wasn't broken in three different places. If it been my grandmother, I'd make sure he wouldn't be able to ejactulate for nine long months.

That being said, I feel sorry that this kid is going to get twisted and turned before he even hit adulthood. Our incarceration system does not rehabilitate, it only consumes misguided souls.

Way to bend the **** out of the story Kar... First of all it wasn't a "kid" and secondly he's not going to jail for robbing the "7 cents", he's going to jail for assaulting a poor old man using what looked like a real weapon (which was his intent) and then took everything the old man had on him (which just happened to be seven cents). I think justice has been done here.

Stupid kids. You gotta love the lawyer, "He'll be branded a felony for life over $.07!"

No, he's branded a felon for life over armed robbery.

Only in America could something like this happen.

Oh well. He shouldn't have robbed and beat the guy. BTW Paroxysm, is that Don Cheadle as Cap Planet!?! LMAO!!!

To the lawyers comment I have this to say. Yes they are and rightfully so. They had weapons, knocked him down, punched him, and took money. It happens that the man only had 7 cents but if he would've had any more they would have taken that too. In this case it appears as though the system worked, and maybe that's the real headline

When reading the title I thought he took like 7 pennies from one of those "Take a Penny, Leave a Penny" and he was being charged with 1-6 years in actual prison. I was like "Wtf, America?" then I read the article.

Kid's an idiot. I don't know what he was expecting...

Yeah, armed robbery only happens in the US.

BTW, what did your city do after they lost the Stanley Cup?

The "kid's" attorney, Haddad is apparently ignorant too. As Hotwire said, he isnt being labeled a felon because of 7 cents, he is labeled a felon because he committed a violent robbery which is a felony.

Yes, the kid deserved every single day that he received and probably more. The kid is nothing more than a thug and a punk.

He didn't have 25 cents!:bh:
