Xbox Killer Instinct

They were free for the Ultra Pack people. Not sure how it works for the other packages.

I think you have to buy em unfortunately. I have the option to purchase Orchids but none of the others.

Can you still buy the Ultra Pack or whatever? If so I'm probably gonna buy that.

Yea that option is there, its just another "version" of the game. Its the one i should of bought, dang flabbit

will they ever release a retail, disc based version of this in the future?

No, not that im aware of.

Early thoughts on Spinal: Cool character to mess around with, but takes a lot of work in getting good with him at high level play. A nightmare for Glacius for sure.

I think thats true for any character. This game, to me any way, seems to be much less forgiving. Meaning iv seen "noob" people take down more experienced players in games like MK and SF but here? Not so much.

so it's not a very "noob" friendly game?

Very true on all accounts, but what trying to say is that Spinal isn't an "entry level" character like say Jago or perhaps Wulf, I see him more of a "master level" character more akin to Gen in SF or perhaps Flash. On a side note, is it just me or do th the skulls sound like TIE Fighters? :hehe:

Depends on what type of noob. A noob who pays heed to what the Dojo has to offer has a good chance in this game. Spammer noobs on the other hand....

Very Noob friendly actually. Pick Sabrewulf , most of his rabid doubles are button mashing. My 10 yr old relative performed a 40% damage combo quite often.

Also, Jago is basically Ryu with a lot easier combos to perform and the 1st tutorial they made is for this character. He's very easy to learn, but difficult to master.

Seems the KI team is staying with MS.

Microsoft plans to unveil a new "development partner" for Killer Instinct soon, following yesterday's acquisition of Double Helix by Amazon. Double Helix developed Killer Instinct on Xbox One, and the Irvine Studio was bringing regular updates to the fighter as part of the first season content.

In a statement provided to Polygon, Microsoft said it'll be working with a new team on the franchise, but left it unclear whether that pertains to the Xbox One game's first season, the expected second season, future games, or a mixture of the three.

"We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Double Helix and wish them success in their next endeavor," a Microsoft spokesperson told Polygon. "We want all of our loyal fans to know that the Killer Instinct team at Microsoft is not changing and that the franchise will remain with Microsoft Studios. We remain dedicated to delivering a great experience and plan to announce our new development partner soon. We're excited about the future of this popular franchise."

As it stands, the revived fighter's next update is due next month, when it's set to receive classic combatant Fulgore as an addition to the roster

The KI team that were Microsoft employees like some Rare producers and whatnot will be staying at Microsoft, but everyone that worked on the game at Double Helix is gone now.

for a brief moment, I thought KI might have the chance to go multiplat.........

:(

Hopefully the quality doesnt dip. KI, while thin compared to Injustice and MK, is a really good fighter. Cant wait to see it at the pro tourneys.

What took so long for yo to get it? It's a free game for starters.

Think he only just bought an XB1.

Yeah would love to see people who are really good at this with all the combos. I haven't had the time or dedication to get into the advanced stuff properly.

My issue are the combo breakers. At this point i just hope i hit the right command. I have no idea where the attack is coming from because they come so damn fast. Guess its just a matter of learning each characters move set, so ya know whats coming when they do it.

It'll be interesting to see how these pros approach the game. I know if you watch the CPU play each other, its just breaker after breaker after breaker. Theres never more than a 5 hit combo. I wonder if these pro matches will just end up with everyone breaking each others counters. Will make for some boring matches.

Maybe they need a combo-breaker-counter. :woot: I definitely haven't got time to learn the move sets of all the characters apart from the one I'm using right now. But this is a game I'll be playing slowly over a long time (till the next one comes out) so I guess I have time to eventually learn. This is a problem with liking all the beat'em ups as I end up a noob at all of them rather than an expert at one or 2.

Yeah, I decided to wait until we got our tax return to buy an X1 (Got a PS4 at launch) but I'll probably try it out tonight and if I like it enough I will buy the Ultra Edition or whatever.

What's the version called where you get Killer Instinct Classic with it? Shame I can't trade in my free KI with characters unlocked and get that instead.

While risky on the offence, isn't that what counter breakers are for? On defence, some might risk eating a whole combo than to get a counter breaker. A counter breaker is the diference between a 24% and a 62% combo. So I doubt we'll be seeing combo breaker heavy matches. At least this year. EVO will make or break this game.
