Beautiful Carmen Colson (Lane) and her ironworker husband Wayne (Jane) are placed in the Federal Witness Protection program after witnessing an "incident". Thinking they are at last safe, they are targeted by an experienced hit man (Rourke) and a psychopathic young upstart killer (Gordon Levitt). The ensuing struggle will test Carmen to the limit.

Anybody else excited about this film?

The movie has been held back for a long time, But things could be moving now. The movie is going to be screened to some major movie companies in the next days or so. Someone will hopefully be picking it up.

I even remember commercials playing on my TV, including a release day. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Well, it looks like it's going straight to DVD. :csad:

ive been trying to get this on netflix but its unavailable

I've seen the trailer for this like maybe more than two years ago...

Hitman Thriller 'Killshot' Gets Bumped (Again)

The first time I came across a trailer for the Diane Lane/Thomas Jane/Mickey Rourke hitman thriller Killshot (only remaining on an AICN archive page and the errant DVD release), it was back in September of 2006. Since then, the Elmore Leonard adaptation has endured reshoots in January of 2007 and countless changes in release dates after that. Of course, there's also at least three test screening reviews that bring to light the entire removal of a character played by Johnny Knoxville from the film.

Now, not long after the Weinstein Company issued its latest round of supposed scheduling, Killshot's most recent date -- November 7, 2008 -- has been dashed away by this Los Angeles Times piece, and as pointed out, how does one struggle to release anything that John Madden, Anthony Minghella, Sydney Pollack and Quentin Tarantino all had hands in at some point? How does one struggle to even sell off domestic distribution rights to a film with this cast and that crew? The obvious answer is, of course, that the film is a downright dud, though the general pedigree and harshest reviews seem to suggest that it's not a total turkey.

The best-case scenario at this point is that the film rides the awards buzz of Rourke's performance in December's The Wrestler as suggested and gets a theatrical release in the early winter dumping grounds (through the Weinsteins' Third Rail arm, I'd bet), while the worst-case scenario is the film being directly downgraded to the level of a Blockbuster-exclusive curio. We shall see...

The new trailer is more involved than the first and gives a better sense of the tone and especially of Levitt's character. I'm a big fan of this type of movie, and while it's nothing new, it does look stylishly made with an excellent cast.

That trailer looks much better. We might finally see this thing.

this movie looks way too cool to have been delayed...

So funny story about this movie, when it first started filming it was filmed in Cape Girardeau Missouri, about 35 minutes away from me, and the whole town was very excited (we don't have anything like this happen anywhere around here sadly). Well, sadly, the piss poor town of Cape Girardeau (the actual place of where parts of the movie/book were based in) has a bunch of 'wanna be' famous folks who wouldn't stop hasseling the film crew. I'm talking waitress actresses, poor musicians, weak News crew members, and anyone who wrote anything on a napkin were arriving on set and trying to get discovered. It was a total mess. And along with that, appearently Cape Girardeau sounds good on paper, but in actuality....it's not a very photogenic place to film a movie.

So a couple weeks into production of the film and the whole production stopped, packed up and left. The whole town of Cape Girardeau was in shock. Let's put it this way, if Killshot was the Jonas Brothers...it would be like that....but only Killshot didn't want people constantly bothering them and ruining shots. The town of Cape wouldn't even stop traffic for this film and so you had a ton of cars honking horns while filming. I use to sit atop a friends roof and watch them film and just see the crazies come out to the set to try and pass something off to someone.

So here's the deal, when production stopped, the production crew basicly just gave Cape the finger and said to shove it. They left town with one...you heard it right, one useable shot....a filler shot no less. They packed everything up and filmed in Canada I believe as Cape. My friends and I would laugh at how stupid the whole town of Cape Girardeau is for being sucks ***** when it came to excitement. If Hollywood never comes back to Southeast Missouri....this experiance for Killshot is why.

Oh, and if you watch the trailer, the only shots from Cape are of Rourke walking down to main street and one shot of the couple leaving the thrieft shop also on main street. If you look in the shot of Rourke walking down the street, to the left are some apartment buildings...this is where my friend lived and we sat on that roof and watched them film.

So it appears to me that they used a couple of shots from Cape, but didn't film the majority of the film there. Everything else was Canada I think. Also, you can see a cop car in the shot of Rourke walking....gotta love how the cops just kept the stoners away from main street. The head shop on main street wasn't happy..but Rourke did visit the place, it can be seen in the background of the couple shot on main. Look for Hempies in the film. Also, cheap pop, Pour House pub can be seen also in the trailer.

So two shots I believe make it into the film, Rourke walking down to the river and the couple on main street. The local news station reported they really had nothing else to say other than 'these two shots' make it into the film and they are just bitter they couldn't land an interview with anyone from the movie. haha

Other than that, the movie itself looks very good and the cast is amazing. OH OH OH...THIS WAS THE BEST PART HEARD ON THE NEWS... "Although the movie is set in Cape Girardeau, the Cape 14 Cine or any other theater in the southeast region will NOT be showing this picture. We'll have to wait for it to come on DVD". HAHAHA...

Cape Girardeau sucks so much that test audencies didn't even like to see that town on screen. LOL. And we had Johnny Knocksville in town!! In real life, he's not so much funny as he is on Jackass. :( Oh well, he was edited out of the film along with Cape.

I'll add one more thing, the whole reason the film was delayed so much was because of Cape Girardeau. You really have to understand that the town just ruined too much of what they filmed that it took much longer to re-budget and re-shoot stuff elsewhere. 2 years of delay is pretty tardy if you ask me, but I seriously wish you guys could have been here to see how much of a jackass town Cape is. I hope someone on the DVD extra's rips Cape a new one.

all of Johnny Knoxville's scenes were cut out of the movie, as it seems.

Please tell me we see a fight between Thomas Jane and Mickey Rourke!

Oh my God.

That is hysterical.

It's surprising that this is straight to DVD. The cast alone should warrant a full cinematic release.
