king of the 80's vampire moves

lost boys, for sure

it's like comparing true blood to twilight...one is vastly superior.

Not a big fan of vampires, to be honest, but I think "Lost Boys" is the better movie.

("Near Dark" is my favourite overall)

Never seen Fright Night, so I voted for Lost Boys.

I'm sure both are better than any vampire movies that have come out in the last 10 years though (thanks, Twilight and Underworld).

^I found LB quite serious as well, a lot more than Fright Night, but its your poll so fair enough!

Although maybe you should have put 'comedy' in the title?

I still take the monster squad over those two anyday... 'Kick him in the Nards!!!!!"

The Lost Boys gets my vote.

You're so cool, Brewster!

I like both movies and can't really decide. I'm planning on watching Lost Boys tonight on Bluray though. I previewed the first 5 minutes already and it looks amazing.

Well, the rollerskating vampire from Fright Night Part 2 is in my opinion the king of 80s vampire moves.

Lost boys. Only cause I've seen it first and it's shot a lot better than Fright Night. Both are fun though.

Hey Spider-Neil, are you related to Spider-Freddie?? :woot:

fright night was an original conceit that was part spoof, part homage and part horror. Fright Night is heavily influenced by the Hammer horror movies and creates something that is very '80s, but very entertaining. It reminds me of a slightly inferior vampire version of An American Werewolf in London.

The Lost Boys is more like The Howling to me. Okay, funny, clever, but kind of dull and unintentionally cheesy. I don't ever want to see Lost Boys or The Howling again. If Fright Night is on around Halloween, I"ll watch it with a grin and own AAWIL on Blu-ray.

My thoughts.

Near Dark was awesome but it's hard for me to look past 'the cure' . I know most horror movies end in ways that you are supposed to suspend disbelief but for some reason it didn't work for me.

Yeah I'd agree, I was loving Near Dark until
the blood transfusion cures vampirism scene

I'm all for artistic licence but that was just plain old simplistic storytelling.

Anyway, Lost Boys for me. :yay:
