Why on Earth did they cast this guy? Jones plays Blade like some thug who happens to be a vampire. To say he's unconvincing as Blade is a huge understatement.

I think he has the attitude to play Blade. I think he has to get better in the fight scenes. Hopefully that will improve. You cant expect him to be as good as Wesley Snipes.

i agree,he doesn't suit the role at all.he looks and acts more like a ghetto gangbanger than blade.

replaced?
by whom?
anyone will pale in comparison to Snipes.
give this guy three or four more episodes and then see.

I think he's doing okay. It's hard for anyone to replace Snipes.

I wish they could have got Michael Jai White to play Blade in the tv series. He has an extensive background in martial arts & he could have probably done the character justice.

Was Blade in the comic books a martial artist of any kind the way he was in the movies or was he more of a street thug & the martial arts was just thrown in to make the character more interesting in the movies? If Wesley Snipes didn't have an extensive background in martial arts training would the Blade in the movies have been a martial artist of any kind to begin with?

he's doing alright so far. give him a couple more episodes before u pass judgement on him.

I'm trying to get used to Jones as Blade, but after two (technically three) episodes, it hasn't happened yet. He comes off more like a street thug with nice tattooes than the terse, cocky killing machine that Snipes established in the movies. Maybe that's the fault of the fight coordinators, though. Jones has been getting his ass kicked a hell of a lot more than Blade should. :o

He's not a bad actor, I just think he's wrong for the role. He doesn't convey the things Blade needs to convey.

just give him more time. maybe after the next one he'll start to grow on u.

Hopefully. I'd like the show to be good, but it's hard when Jones seems so unnatural in the titular role.

Yeah, after watching the first two episodes, he's been pretty annoying. I keep waiting for girls to start shaking their butts next to him and start dancing. He's just very very miscast.

Hes the only thing about the show I dislike.

Agreed. Blade is sopposed to be a season vet. An experienced vampire killing machine. 'The bane' of the vampire race. He took out Dracula, Deacon Frost and Nomak. In the pilot he got his ass whipped multiple times by regular vamps, and barely made it out of each situation by the skin of his teeth (no pun intended)! He fights like this is 'Blade Begins', where he's just learning how to kill vamps-not a Blade who's just taking out dracula.

I think they should have cast an unknown, who actaully is a martial artist. There are thousands of undiscovered actors out there, who probably fit the bill, and having an unknown in the role might help us get over our 'Snipes-addiction' a little better because we have no pre-concieved opinions of the new guy.

On a lighter note, Sticky does sound like he's about to bust out and starting rapping at anytime!:D

Im startin to warm up to Kirk. I have a feeling he'll improve.

I never heard of Jones before he was cast as Blade. I think people would be saying the same things about anyone unless it was Snipes.

He's been in several Movies like In too Deep w/Stanley Tucci and Omar Epps. He also had a prominant role in a few seasons of the F/X channel drama 'The Sheild'. Also the Iraq war based drama 'Over there' on the same network. He's not bad in these shows...he's just mis-cast as Blade.

I'm actually warming up to this guy quite a lot. He did exactly what he said he was going to; his own interpretation of Blade. He mixes both movie and comic book Blade with something of his own and as long as I forget about Wesley Snipes, I can enjoy it. He gets better with each episode and was really good in this one not just actingwise but his fighting skills as well.

He's good as Blade, just not good as a Wesley Snipes replacement, and I'm okay with that.

Michael White would have been an EXCELLENT choice. (Spawn)

The thing is though that you cant blaim kirk for the fights. Its choreography that needs to be adjusted. It clearly doesnt have the pazzaz of snipes blade(quick and powerful but elegant). Kirks blade unfourtantly has been shown as the blade 1 character(all serious). He should(hell he wants) to be like the blade 2(humorous while kicking your ass).

Oh now that's just funny. All Blade requires an actor to do is be stone faced, say very little and hit things. It ain't exactly Hamlet, and Wesley Snipes ain't Larry Olivier. Snipes wasn't irreplaceable.

The two episodes I've seen, Kirk's done a reasonable job. The problem with the series is the same problem as in the movies - the writers won't give Blade anything to do that requires any emotion. No emotional arc means an unengaging character. Hence why the Blade movies got really old really fast. The series needs to give Kirk something to do to prove what a decent, solid actor he is.
