Review the Blade TV Pilot (Post critic reviews too!)

if Sticky can't command the screen he shouldn't be on camera.

I LOVE the Mercury girl (Krista), but F *%* all if BLADE isn't on the camera a LOT more than her.

This insistance on having a show about a strong male Super Hero dominated by his female sidekick is BS.

Show me Blade.

Show me Blade fighting.

Every now and then give me the female eye candy, then the focus should immediately go back to Blade.

Watching "Blade and Friends" is not what I want.

Krista : The Series

Then random guys who see the ads would be like Kirsta who ? Then they look it up Online & go  Whos Blade

I enjoyed the second hour of the Blade series much better than the first. The first episode was rough around a few edges but for the most part I'm looking forward to the second episode. The end of the first episode had me pretty excited about the rest of the series. I hope that Krista isn't on the inside for the rest of the season or the length of the show. I do think in the future episodes they need to devote more time to Blade. Krista is hot and all but I didn't tune in to see her track down her brother's killer then fret over being made a vampire.

Really not feeling the new Blade series. Buffy had waaaaaaaaay better fight scenes than this; with a smaller budget I might add. There were too many close up shots with no style. Sticky needs to train more. His Fighting looks to sloppy and very un-Blade. What the hell is the deal with Blade getting his ass kicked by two vamp chicks? Hell, Blade was getting his ass kicked during the whole pilot. That's not the Blade I'm use to. The director of the pilot has no stlye what so ever. He could of atleast gave the scenes a little more mystery and with an errie setting to them. The scenes just look plain. The introduction to Blade was so mediocre. Sticky Fingaz's performance wasnt that great. He tries too hard to be tough and doesnt have the intimidation or charisma Snipes brung to the character. Sticky is imitating Snipes and he's not doing a very good impression. When Sticky was taking the serum It looks like he's busting a nut. His acting skills needs work. The main villain is okay for a season 1 big bad, but he seems so watered down to the point where you question why in the hell is Blade having trouble with him in the first place. Krista is great and hot but the show shouldnt be about her, let's get more in depth with Blade. The last 3 films didnt really get into Blade's development. He didnt develop as a person and still fails to realize that he needs friends to overcome his enemies. I hope Blade gets character development. So we wont have to see side characters get more screen time and character development, just because Blade is too cool to evolve as a person.

I thought the pilot had potential so I´m giving it another episode or three to hook me.

One thing that I´m rather worried about is that this series will fall into the Buffy/Angel syndrome were every freakin´ vampire seems to know kung-fu!

Blade did seem underpowered in the episode, he was having problems with fights that the movie Blade would have won with ease. Considering that Blade has fought and won the vampire blood god and their originator you´d think a few punks in suits wouldn´t give him that much trouble. Obviously they need to keep things toned down for the series so that things don´t get to weird or out there right at the start plus the F/X budget isn´t anywhere near the movies.

If that's the case they should of had Blade take out the vamp thugs in a second.

Because Sarah Michelle Gellar can fight.

The less we see of his fighting, the less we remark on how bad it is?

...............:( Have you seen any of the blade movies? Wesley/Blade took out petty vamp thugs in seconds...But with style. Sticky had no style or charisma. His form looked sloppy. It shows that he hasnt done any type of training...And that's not Sarah Michelle Gellar fighting, you can clearly see that's her stunt double doing most of the fighting. She just poses in fighting stance whenever there's a close up.

The first part of that is true, but even in a prolonged engagement Wesley looked cool. I used to say all the time that Blade would kill more vampires in 5 minutes than Buffy did in an entire season. Kirk, by comparison, was stiff & awkward. I was suggesting that if the fight scenes were quicker they might not look as bad. They might want to take more of a "Batman Begins" approach to the fight scenes. And I didn't know Sarah didn't do her own fighting. But she pulled it off for what-5 years?

They say she's studied Tae Kwon Do but she's not the person doing the kick ass moves on the show. It's because they dont want the actors to get hurt on the set. But why not just train the actors? But I dont think they should of got sticky fingaz for the role of Blade. Maybe J August Richards or Lee Young for the role. Someone who would add more depth to the role. And a better director too. There's not style at all. It looks like a b movie.

But atleast some b movies have style.

i agree. but it is not ont the same level as for example buffy, smallville, ...

you get me ? the camera style. the look of the movie. i swer to god that at first it looked like it was just a fan movie. i knwo that some of you have low expectations. i also have them very low. but this is an insult to wesley and to the first movies.

even the fighting in LOST was better than in blade. and you know that this doesnt mean anythign good. :(

krista looks hot. but i dont neeed to watch blade to see a hot girl. the world is full of hot girsl ;). i am watching blade for blade.

and it looks liek that i am very used on the hairstyle of snipes. because i just can not stand a bald blade.

I really don't understand all the complaining about the fights. If Blade kicked everyone's ass so easily everyone would complain that there was no suspense. And if you thought the choreography was bad I suggest you forget everything you saw Wesley Snipes (a trained martial artist) do and then try to appreciate how hard Sticky is trying. And for those complaining about Sticky's training he mentioned in an interview i posted here some time ago that since the series was picked up he has been training vigorously.

Shaved head and killer shades, he's reminiscent of Avery Brooks as Hawk in Spencer: For Hire.

That's one hell of a compliment.

That's the problem; Sticky's trying too hard. The promos in which he swings & sheathes his sword say it all. It looks so unwieldy & awkward. Unnatural. His fighting is too stiff. It doesn't matter how hard or easy it is for the hero to vanquish an enemy; it should look stylish. Or at least more stylish than what I saw last week. And don't give me this stuff about him not being a trained martial artist, b/c I can think of several actors who'd never really trained before & & came out way better fighting onscreen than Kirk did.

Well, I know you're not one to be overly critical. I'm speaking more to the people who are writhing in pain after seeing the first hour of the pilot(!!!), promising to never watch again, slit their wrists, and disembowel their sister.

the pilot wasn't that bad. u have to take it for what it is. it's not trying to be the next Buffy, Angel, or Supernatural for that matter. it's entertainment.

plus i thought the dustings were cool.

This show is actually pretty damn good. This episode is miles above the pilot. :) Blade seems more Blade-like for one. Bon-a-fide ass kicker. And the villains are even more menacing and interesting.

2nd episode was much much better. Interested to see where this series is headed.
