So since we have a thread for Flash's rogues, let's have one for Grodd. Personally Grodd is my favorite Flash rogue and hope they use him in the first film. Let's get the obvious casting out there.

Grodd should be saved for sequels in my opinion. He's a villain that requires build up. Luckily, the show seems to understand that.

Grodd's casting isn't a huge deal to me since there are plenty of voice actors that can pull it off. Plus, there'll probably be some post-production editing to the voice to make it more feral sounding anyway.

As far as mo-cap goes... I'm hoping that they can get whoever did Rise's mo-cap. Andy Serkis and co? That'd be pretty sweet.

Tony Todd for the voice of Grodd

I hope they feel that they can embrace the full on craziness of Grodd, and Gorilla City. I actually think you can do something to link all the hidden societies of the DCU together. Paradise Isle, Atlantis, Skarteris, Nanda Parbat, Gorilla City... Maybe they have had contact with one another? Maybe they have a kind of mutual defense pact? In any case I think Grodd could only be done full justice on the big screen. I think there are plans for him on the CW show, but I have a gut feeling we won't be getting Gorilla City there.

I'm scared the CW series might have used most of Flash's more popular villains (ala Grodd, Captain Cold, Reverse Flash/Zoom, Mirror Master) by the time the movie comes out in 2018.. :(

Did SUPERMAN RETURNS not use Lex because of Rosenbaum on SMALLVILLE?

Of course they did, Lex is Superman's arch enemy! they were bound to use him again.

But the point is that it didn't stop them from having one version in theaters and one version on TV at the same time. For all you know on the TV show by the time the movie bows they may have killed off certain Rogues and use those in on the big screen. They may just not care, multiverse the whole shebang and do multiple takes. As I said the CW Grodd may not do Gorilla City as an origin for Grodd but the movies may well.

I want Grodd to be the voice of Tony Todd

in this movie or on The Flash

If on Michael Clark Duncan was alive.. :csad:
He could have given Grodd a great voice.

Then get ready cause it's gonna happen.
And don't forget, the movie is happening in 2018. You seriously think they (the TV series producers) should limit themselves because of a 2018 movie?

seriously, that logic is idiotic.

The show might even be over by then. ten seasons of Flash would be nice, but 4 seasons would be more than enough if the show keeps moving at this same pace

Then don't watch. The nonsense people come up with I swear....

Since I'm assuming that Grodd will be CGI, two powerful voice actors come to mind: Ron Perlman and Kevin Michael Richardson.

Now that it's pretty much confirmed that the show is going for the more grounded caged lab rat approach (understandable cause of budget constraints). The movie series needs to go all out and unapologetically include the Solovar rivalry and all the Gorilla City madness when they decide to get to Grodd.

Exactly.

A big point of the show in the first place is to expose this IP beyond the comic book reading audience. To actually introduce these characters to the general public. I don't know why people here always forget that you may know who Grodd or Mirror Master is but your cousin or neighbor likely does not.

By the time the movie hits they will be more familiar with them thanks to the TV show and that's not a bad thing. That is always a plus in terms of drawing the general audience in and DC characters are malleable enough that you don't even have to repeat the same stories across the TV and theatrical versions with them so there is no sense of monotony.

I thought Monsieur Mallah was the French gorilla, not Grodd

This guy starred in one of my most hated movies.. the abomination that shall not be named. :barf:
