Centers around heartbroken Anna (Bell), for whom every day is the same. She sits with her wine, staring out the window, watching life go by without her. But when a handsome neighbor moves in across the street, Anna starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel. That is until she witnesses a gruesome murder… Or did she?

Couldn’t find a thread for this. They played that trailer played so straight right until the end that I was almost confused why a genuine, serious thriller had a bizarre, parody title like that. Bell’s great though so this should be good.

I finished this last night. Honestly… what the hell?

What exactly was this show going for? The name suggests it’s a parody, but it’s not funny at all. And it doesn’t really feel like a serious satire either. If the title was different then it would just feel like another Rear Window wannabe type of show, only one that makes little to no sense when you think about it. But maybe that’s an indication that it was a parody? I have no idea. Kristen Bell does everything she can to make it work but the story is a mess. For example…

Buell has been fixing her mailbox for years? What? Nothing about that ever struck her (or anyone else) as odd? Has she been paying him all this time?

When the cops investigate the murder, they just take the father’s word for it that she’s in Seattle because he received a text. But no one - not the dad nor the police - even CALL her to see if she’s okay. They just assumed Kristen Bell made it all up.

I have a really hard time believing that a little girl could murder someone in her house and dismember the body without leaving a trace of blood or anything, especially when her dad was right upstairs.

On that note - the show turns into “The Good Son” in the final episode with a kid suddenly being revealed to be this diabolical psychopath. I’ll admit I didn’t see that twist coming but it was just ridiculous.

WTF was the thing with Glenn Close at the end? Are they insinuating that Kristen imagined everything? Or that the airline is gaslighting her? I have no idea what that meant.

So yeah… this show was just weird. It didn’t know what it wanted to be. And Mary Holland, who I love and is great in everything if you give her good material, was totally wasted here.

So this was definitely weird :funny:. And it was definitely comedic but overall I thought the tone was messy. There were plenty of deadpan comedic moments with some absurd dialogue making fun of these movies and some sight gags. I did chuckle a few times but there are other times when something absurd is happening on screen but the atmosphere is so serious that you get confused what your reaction is supposed to be. And while at times I wish the humour was a little more overt, other times I really liked the more subdued nature of it. There was some stuff especially at the end where if it had been like one of those ___ Movie spoofs from the 2000s, it would’ve had the cast stop and literally wink at the camera but they didn’t so I liked that.

Overall I enjoyed it and I really liked that the episodes were short. I’ve heard some people complain about pacing but I thought it was a breezy watch. The way they play around with the tropes and the casting was kinda fun too.
The first shot with Cameron Britton was so small, almost like they were trying to hide him, I thought I was being so clever that I noticed him. I thought I had it figured that he was the killer but nope. I don’t think there’s any way to predict the actual killer :funny:.
