JENNIFER
Hey!
CUT TO:
INT. COFFEE SHOP-DAY
Jennifer stands in a crowd of CUSTOMERS at the counter. Everyone is much taller and more noticeable than she. The wall flower stands rigid until the CLERK begins talking to her.
CLERK
Hey there, pretty eyes.
Jennifer bats her eyelashes and giggles. Suddenly a tall BLONDE WOMAN walks past Jennifer.
BLONDE WOMAN
Hi there, sexy. Tall mocha cappuccino.
EXT. COFFEE SHOP-MOMENTS LATER
Jennifer steps into the street with her coffee. She is bumped by a passer by and the coffee spills all over he suit.
CUT TO:
INT. SHERIFFS OFFICE-DAY
Walters leans against the wall talking to a Peters
PETERS
Well Monkton is in there claiming to be innocent.
Walters nods.
WALTERS
Lab results came back with something interesting. That partial print on the right side of the butt means our shooter is left handed.
PETERS
Why is that interesting?
Walters nods towards MONKTON.
WALTERS
Because when Monkton wrote down his lawyers number he did it with his right hand.
PETERS
What are you saying?
WALTERS
Monkton is being set up.
PETERS
By who?
WALTERS
Someone who is left handed.
CUT TO:
INT. TRASKS MANSION-NIGHT
A hand writes something down. It is a left hand. And the hand belongs to the menacing crime boss NICHOLAS TRASK. He is a rough looking man that might pass for a blue collar worker if not for his expensive Italian suit.
Across from him sits Al Peters.
PETERS
Hes getting to close.
Trask shrugs.
TRASK
Ill buy him off.
PETERS
Not this guy. Hes a crusader. Ever since his wife-
TRASK
I thought we agreed not to talk about that!
PETERS
Right. Sorry.
TRASK
Besides, there are still ways to handle Walters.
PETERS
Come on Nick, you cant just shoot the Sheriff of Los Angeles County!
TRASK
No kidding?
Trask abandons his writing and leans forward.
TRASK (CONTD)
Every man has some dirt. A secret they dont want anyone to know about. That includes the good Sheriff Walters.
PETERS
Walters is clean.
Trask smiles and stands up.
TRASK
You remember a few years ago when the world found out that Bruce Banner was the Hulk?
PETERS
The Hulk?
Trask flips open a painting on the wall behind the desk. Behind the painting is a safe. Trask twists the knob, negotiating his way through the combination.
TRASK
Yeah, the Hulk. Big, mean angry, green freak of nature.
PETERS
Okay...
Trask tugs open the safe. The safe opens with a loud hiss and vapors from the liquid nitrogen drift out into the room.
TRASK
After that Banner vanished. Went into hiding. No one ever saw him again.
Trask pulls something out of the safe.
TRASK (CONTD)
Do you know the story of how the Hulks identity became common knowledge?
PETERS
No.
TRASK
Banner, ever the humanitarian, gave blood at a blood drive one day. It was a match for a blood sample the Army took from the Hulk. Bruce Banner is the Hulk.
Trask slams the safe closed and returns the painting to its original position.
PETERS
What does this have to do with Walters?
TRASK
What if I told you that Bruce Banner is Morris Walters nephew.
PETERS
What?
Trask sits down.
TRASK
Morris Walters nephew is a fugitive from the law and this-
Trask drops a plastic sack of plasma on the desk.
TRASK (CONTD)
-blood sample will prove it.
PETERS
The Hulk is Walters nephew?
TRASK
Ill get a couple of guys to lay that across his desk. See if that gets him to play ball.
PETERS
You think this wild accusation will get Walters off your back? He all but knows you shot all of those men to protect your-
TRASK
Whoa! Wild accusations? Hey, what do I care what you think? I aint trying to buy you off. I already done that. It was much easier.
PETERS
What if this doesnt work?
Trask picks up a cigar.
TRASK
I have a plan B.
