LA/OC people,
INDIE 103.1 is no long on the airwaves, and will be an online station from this point on. All of the info is here:
http://blogs.laweekly.com/play/news/indie-1031-announces-move-to-i/index.php
MY TAKE:
I'm sadden by this. It's not because music is dead because it's not. Far from it. It's the fact that the station was trying to give the public a taste of lesser known bands out there.
But I knew something was up after the huge shift in the schedule. They dropped Danny Matherson's show, moved Henry Rollins to Saturday nights, and canceled the speciality shows.
According to Ted Roman's twitter (https://twitter.com/TeddRoman), the on-air talent have been given the pink slip. That includes Steve Jones (of the Sex Pistols) show, Joney's Jukebox. I just hope that he'll find a new home (maybe KCRW).
Here's the info on the future of Jones' show. http://blogs.laweekly.com/play/news/steve-jones-releases-statement/
Is it because they didn't want to corporate (which they were actually)? Bad ratings? I don't know.
