Hello, all.

Currently, I am having problems with audio on my laptop, which has Vista as the operating system. When I booted up the computer this morning, I discovered that I could not play audio: there is a red x on the icon on the toolbar. I did some Googling and found a way to diagnose the problem: the Windows Audio Endpoint Service is not working.

I have Googled some, but have found that all of the discussion about it and related problems is centered on Windows 7, instead of Vista.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to repair it, or at least manipulate it so I can play audio on an external source (such as headphones & HDMI)?

All of this happened after I downloaded a text reader program, to help with my workload, in light of my concussive problems (not I am saying there is a causal connection, but a chronemic one.)
