Len Wiseman Helming Atlantis Rising

Strange that not even Avatar did increase the chance for an Atlantis film. The special effects were good enough even eleven years ago.
Why can't we get an otherwordly adventure like this into production? What is stopping Hollywood?
It can't be that hard!

The story could be an original one, not based on a book. Show the advanced civilisation at its top, then as it sinks into the ocean. Don't shy away from any ties to mythological goods, or aliens.
Atlanteans were partly warriors. Dive into that element (see what I did here?) and maybe include something about a clash with the Lemurians.

-JKR-: It's not really the same thing. That version didn't offer any background story, nor did it explain how they could adjust to living in the sea both in terms of technology and their biology.
They also came of as a little too advanced. With that knowledge and skills, they could have prevented the natural disaster that struck them.
I want a real Atlantis during the time it was a island. Advanced culture yes, but their tech (or godly powers) shouldn't be enough to save them.

For comparison!
Has MCU destroyed to chance to see real norse mythology at the big screen?
It wouldn't even be the same characters because the actual gods wouldn't just be this small kingdom that a lot of other cosmic civilisations could invade, pretty easily.
Norse gods are the top of the chain inside the mythology. Only Ragnarök can kill them off.
There wouldn't even be a universe out there. We have to leave all science behind when adapting true norse mythology.
