True, from a comic fan's perspective, I understand.
But from a *general audience* perspective, more than one Black Panther (or at least more than just the one bloodline) is too much to swallow.

Yes to Shuri in the supporting cast; no to Shuri in the panther suit.

You give the GA FAR too little credit, they're not that stupid. "The Panther is a title passed down through the royal family" is not that hard a concept to buy.

This. The whole "it'll be too much for the GA" card went off a cliff the moment Google and Wikipedia were born.

Sorry but no, she's not vital to any part of that story. Id rather have that time she would take up on screen to BP's love interest or villain.

Can't see why we can't see Shuri in the Black Panther. Have her in the background or major role, but for sure she should be in it. And Lupita is a no brainer.

I don't know much about Black Panther's comics and history outside of what I've read through marvel wiki, the cartoons/animated movies and avengers, but I will say I like the idea of his sister some day sitting on the throne, perhaps when their father dies/is killed.

I think it would be very progressive and interesting to see a strong woman ascend the throne and rule as queen while her brother took on the mantle of black panther and decided not to rule. This would add to some political and maybe civil conflict in Wakanda and help give the Black Panther story even more depth in sequel films.

Just my thought, but I like Lupita or Naomi Harris....although one of them better place Storm in the new Xmen film if it does take place in the 80s/90s.

Great idea. I would go as far as to have her take the mantle from T'challa at the end of the first BP movie. That free's up T'challa to leave Wakanda and join the avengers, or just travel the world and go on his own his own solo adventures without being tied down to looking after his country. I think the recent Black Panther comics went through a similar transition.

Don't overthink it. They could easily work her into the movie as just T'Challa's teenage sister or something. It doesn't have to be the huge supporting role people are making it out to be.

shuri to become black panther at the end of the first film?
Hell no.. That's what makes t'challa different from other black panthers. he is a king as well as an avenger and a very powerful political figure worldwide which give him more tasks to do than tony stark and cap. I say no to shuri been the black panther. I like her but i never liked her as the black panther. tchalla has more charm and charisma than her

I sort of voted wrong. I voted to save her for the sequel, but what I really meant was save any suiting up for a sequel. Obviously if they use the character I would prefer she be introduced in the first movie since that only makes sense. It would be rather odd if somewhere in BP2 we find out tht, oh, he had a sister the whole time!

I don't feel her inclusion in the first film or even "suiting up" in the second in anyway takes from T'Challa's specialness. First off, it wouldn't be until after A:IW that she suited up giving T'Challa plenty of time to don the suit totally only. Then, even if she wears it in BP2 it can be temporary thing, perhaps a situation where her brother is forced out of/willingly leaves Wakanda and Shuri steps up, or maybe he's endanger and so she sort of "steals" away her own version of the BP suit in able to come in and rescue him. I just see many ways it could be a really heartwarming brother and sister moment while also allowing the two to kick some butt together. In BP1 she'd simply be introduced as one of the supporting cast, much in the same way Rhodey had limited screen time in IM1 that just served to establish him as part of Tony's network.

I don't see the point of her ever becoming the black panther if she's in the movie. In the comic it was stupid and it will probably stupid on film too.

I think Shuri should be in the movie. Don't know how big a role she should have, or what her age should be, but why not include her? She's been Panther now for at a few years at least, right? I'm sure there are Shuri fans out there who would thrill to see her. And a good showing in a Panther film might get her new fans.

I don't even get why people seem to think her appearing in the film would automatically mean she becomes Black Panther. Wasn't she a supporting character for a few years before donning the mantle anyway?

I was never suggesting that she become BP in the film. I was merely pointing out that it COULD potentially work, and that arguing that "the GA wouldn't buy it" is foolish. I would like to see her in the movie, even if it's just as T'Challa's sister.

Give her a cameo in the first movie, give her a bigger role in sequels (like Happy in Iron Man movies), but never make her Black Panther.

Bingo. Just don't introduce her out of nowhere and pretend she's always been there like she was in the comics.

No I don't agree with that. Shuri should definitely become the black panther at some point.

its important to see strong women of colour in superhero flicks

Shuri should be there from the beginning. And she should rule while BP is away doing Avengers stuff.

Shuri might be a black panther but T'challa IS the real Black Panther

maybe make her as a nice supporting character. really show it off as a royal FAMILY

then down down the road she can take over and he be the awesome hickman king of the dead panther

The ideal thing would be to make her T'Challa's sidekick of sorts. Not unlike Rhodey with Tony, only she can be written so much better.

I have no idea who that is. What has she acted in?

Tika has been in Sparkle, Get On Up, the soap opera One Life To Live and is currently on the Tyler Perry series The Haves And The Have Nots.

I hope she's involved and not juvenilized (made 16 or something)..
