The Dark Knight Little interview with Hans Zimmer about Joker theme

Wait, nvm I heard what you were talking about, I didn't recognize it at first when I heard it in the trailer, sounded a bit different or more distinct at least

Oh no I'm talking about the new trailer

you mean the happytrails one? so am I.
the opening logos (with the bat symbol around the Legendary Pictures icon) plays a theme recurrent throughout BB, though you can hear it well between 1:00 and 1:32 in Vespertilio

hehe maybe it's louder or something I don't know.

Just listened to what you guys were mentioning (Nycteris) Couldn't agree with you more, very dark and sinister like you said. When I was listening to the part you pointed out Frank, I was thinking of the Joker sticking his body out of the cop car. Like if there wasn't too much background sound with the sirens it fits pretty well

It fits that scene very well. I wonder how much music from BB they're re-using...

I still really wish that this turned out to be the theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emyth-8iDjU
It came out last year but it turned out to be fake, I managed to download it and upload it on youtube. I think this would be a kick-ass theme.

Yea i wondered that, in all the trailers i hear music from BB that i can literally pick out from the OST... except one part.

On the new trailer listen from 43 until 1:08.. That sounds like its had some work done, fleshed out if you will. The music obviously started life as with all the other music, from BB (the part in arkham with the bats coming / end credits) but its different. The space between the main beats is longer.. there are extra horns creating a different sounding piece.. Its good because it sounds like it definetly belongs in the begins world. I loved the begins music, it fits the world so well im really happy that zimmer is fleshing out what he started in the original film.

yeah the opening of that section is definitely from the beginning of the end credits music.
and I think (repeat THINK because I watched BB last night and don't quite remember) that the bit with horns is just a spruced up version of the tune that's playing while Bruce is sitting watching Chill confessing his sins in the court house. in the film it's more tinkly and quiet, but in the trailer sequence between Rachel/Bruce/Dent it's definitely more...I don't know majestic-ish...
edit: ok rewatched that bit and I'm wrong - though there are definite similarities (on the dvd at 24mins though it's one of the soundtrack pieces...)

Its interesting to see just how much more fleshed out the themes are going to be in TDK, I personally hope the music is similiar (not reused) to begins as a link to where it all began for bruce..especially if theres a theme of him doubting the idea of carrying on as Batman :brucebat:

Actually there's some new stuff when Rachel talks to Bruce. It's around 52 or 53 seconds into the trailer. It sounds badass. Very epic sounding.

I think the joker theme can be heard when Fox gets off on that green checkered landing pad after bruce and rachel talk. You hear these two dull sounding guitar notes going back an forth, I remember zimmer saying he used two notes for the joker's theme so i think this is it.

What I really like from the trailer as far as sound goes is the electronic drone when the screen goes black and Joker says, "Good evening ladies and gentlemen".

After watching the prologue again ive come accross something interesting regarding themes for the joker... if you can watch it, listen to the music from the part where joker starts saying 'i believe whatever doesnt....' to 'stranger' after he takes off the mask... a definite 2 toned change in the score compared to the rest of the prologue..
