The Dark Knight Little interview with Hans Zimmer about Joker theme

Good find, Crane  Nice read!

Excellent

I was so hoping that Joker would get his own theme. I'm thrilled to bits :hoboj:

I just get a tingle in my spine reading that. I can't wait to hear Joker's theme.

Thanks for the find. Can't wait to hear it! :woot:

"..the tall, balding composer said in a German accent that reflects his native country."

LMAO.. Isn't that the most off topic thing to say in the middle of an article about music..

Two notes on a keyboard.

It sounds very John Carpenter-ish.

:up:x"TheyLiveTheThingHalloweenBigTroubleInLittleChina"

i hadnt even thought about what kind of music they would have for joker. should be crazy.

Cool read. Two notes, that also sounds like Bruce, not Wayne but the shark in "Jaws":cwink:. I'm so happy the Joker gets his own theme:up:.

I can't say I know anything about musical terms, so I don't really understand two notes, but I have a good idea.

Still, he gets his own THEME SONG.
I'm going to humm it while I am at work. :D

Music composers have got to be the most talented artists on the face of the planet.

he inspires me in my own work for movies!! i'm working on a short with a friend and i too have a two note motif!!! what are the odds!!!;)

It's Two-Face who should have a two note motif:woot:.

2% chance.

I brought up the simplicity of John Carpenter; but whoever thought of the Jaws-idea is newboftheyear.

I don't want to give any stigma's, or assume - to soon - but Jaws is STILL known worldwide.

For the love of Fox, "Duh-Da" is sooo simple and sooo terrifying.

I wonder if there is any correlation between Nolan describing the Joker as a "shark" and the Jaws-like/two-note motif for the Joker theme?

Probably not.

:pal:

Speaking of which, I'd love see a themesong for him that changes at a mad pace, like one second it'll be all calm and peaceful, then it'll change into something fast-paced and dramatic. A bit like Birthday Massacre's song 'Blue' but not as girly.

2% chance.

set my self up like a girl in a horror movie with that one!:pal: but you be right. still i find ppl here who can't stand Hans' score for BB, but think the simplistic playing of Carpenter, another fave of mine, was warrented cause his movies are, well, simple. to each his own...:meanie:

If you stand and scream, while crying "oh God help me:" You have a 2% chance.

If you run down the stairs, thinking the killer is in the other room - but the audience knows the killer is down stairs waiting on you: You have a 2% chance.

If you jump out the window, thinking the killer is downstairs - but the audience knows the killer is in the other room: You have a 2% chance.

Why?

Because Horror movies are predictable. :(

There was a two-note motif in BB, too, so I think they're going for something similar in TDK as well..?

As soon as I wrote my 'Jaws reply,' I thought of the two-note theme BB had, especially Batman's theme.

In my wildest imagination, I can not come up with a simple beat in my head - like BB, or Jaws - that would sound incredible and menacing.

All I see is the Joker stalking his prey to the Micheal Myer's theme.

I think it can be pulled off, but to be really frank, I kinda wish they'd gone with a theme that lasted more than 2 notes.
Still, I haven't heard it yet, so what I just posted is not really a complaint, but an expectation.

I'd like to see an anarchic, tribal beat for The Joker when he gets into full swing.
