Little tidbit on Wolverine

After learning little information through the help of Charles Xavier (X2’s Patrick Stewart), Logan takes his search even further by learning the full truth of his origin, while also heading in a bold, new direction.

Hmmm... I found this bit interesting. I wonder if this is just an assumption on their part or if this is something that we've yet to hear about.

That's what I was wondering. I'm hoping this isn't a one pic storyline. I hope it's a 2-3 film deal with Jackman and he does not portray Wolverine in an X-Men film again. I want the X-Men films to start over with an origin film.

^ That's pretty much exactly what I would like to see happen at this point. I would rather see 2 or 3 movies about Wolverine's expansive past rather than a condensed, one movie storyline.

I hope they don't focus too much on the transformation. I really hope that they take us back to the animalistic, growly, vicious Wolverine in the comics. I mean he has been calmed down so much for the X-men movies. Us real fans wanna see the bad a** guy from the comics. The animal for who he truly is!!

Here's what David Benioff had to say on the subject in a 2004 interview:

What I can say is that in the X-Men movies we’ve seen a lot of the sweet Wolverine so I think it’s time to mess him up a little bit because all the fans know that he’s the best there is at what he does but what he does isn’t very nice.

I thought this was going to be a prequel, though...if he's following what Xavier gave him, is this going to be flashback thing??

Sounds more like it's going to be kind of both. Him discovering his origins will lead him somewhere else. Probably long flashbacks to tell the story and then moving on to whatever stories unfold for the next film.

I strongly doubt Wolverine will be a trilogy... Jackman is sort of getting too old to be doing the same stuff for another six years... I think this is probably it... sucks that we won't be seeing any Japan or Omega Red but it should still make for a solid origin flick...

Jackman looks young enough to play this role for 10 more years easily. Which equates to about 3 films. It'll also give him the biggest paycheck he'll ever see. Jackman is in demand as Wolverine not as Van Hesling or anyone else. He doesn't have another role to make him the big bucks at this time while Wolverine is a sure thing.

I cant see Jackman playing Wolverine for 6 films. Thats 10+ years his life.

The script I read is set before the first movie and it's not open for a sequel.

Has the script been rewritten since and when did you read it? Was it a prequel and the only way it's not open for a sequel would be if Logan dies which would mean it's not a prequel.

The one I read involved
Logan going at it alone after fighting the Sabretooth Clones and his female friend dying. It leads on to the beginning of X1 with him in his truck etc.

They should at least make 2 films though I guess I'd be happy with that.

The script is from last year, so it's probably being rewritten after Gavin Hood notes.
It's not open for a sequel because it feels like it happens a short time before the first X-Men movie.

I was hoping they'd tie it in after a few films instead of 1. It is still open for a sequel still though if you think about it. This film if still a prequel takes place before X1. So why can't the next solo adventure take place after X3 and just be another Wolverine adventure?

Actually...... Hugh Jackman DOES have another role right now. Not only is he producing, but he is starring in a movie with Nicole Kidman called Australia.

Not only that... he happens to be producing a television show also. So, Wolverine is not his only role to bring him money right now.

I believe we will continue to see Hugh Jackman in all types of movies to come besides just the action and romantic comedy.

I'm not saying he doesnt' have another role. Jackman is a fine enough actor to always stay busy and get good parts but WOLVERINE is a role he get's the big checks for. Just like Bruce Willis never really had a bigger role than John McClane, Stallone had Rocky and Rambo, Pierce had James Bond, etc...People love them in those parts and they can command huge paychecks. When they step out of those roles (unless proven) they won't get that kind of money. They're not gonna pay Jackman 20 million against 10 of the gross for a comedy. He might get a one shot deal for another action film perhaps like Van Hesling but it's not a character the masses really want to see which means it's one check and done. Wolverine can guarantee him huge $$$ as long as he can keep making them.

Ahh ;) gotcha. Sorry if it sounded like I was pouncing on you about Jackman.... me's got a soft spot for Hugh Jackman....lol

^ It's worth a rental. It's not bad. Travolta is goofy as usual but it works in this film.

Haven't seen Swordfish...... yet! ;)
Slight correction on AUSTRALIA - he's not producing it (unless you meant producing in general - he does have his own production company now which is doing WOLVERINE and his upcoming THE TOURIST besides the TV show VIVA LAUGHLIN which has a "sneak peak" on Oct. 18 and starts on Sunday Oct. 21 on CBS). And you haven't seen SWORDFISH? Let me entice you (besides the head in the lap scene LOL):
