Live-Action Static Shock movie?

i've noticed people talking about gear being in a possible static movie... but from what ive read online gear isnt in the comics, wasn't he made for the tv show? correct me if im wrong...also wasnt he gay too?

Gear was in the comics, but he was just a one time hook up deal with static. They worked together once and then he was gone. The makers of the cartoon needed a bestfriend for the teen static and chose Richard "Richie" Foley aka Gear. That's how the show was given more life. He was gay in the comics and he's gay in the show. If you notice his earing that should explain it all.

The comics are actually pretty adult compaired to the show, but that's how it always is. If they base the movie off of the comics it'll be a good movie. However I heard something about Zac Efron playing Richie. I don't want to believe that at all. :wall: That would suck.

there hasnt been any talks i believe of a static movie.

All I've heard is rumors. It would be cool if they did make a movie! I'd just be scared that they'd screw it up.

this site have very good suggestions for a casting for Static Shock movie: http://www.**************.com/fan_fic/news/?a=13155

Bye

Rather than wait for Smith's son to come of age. I say go with Nick Cannon.
If they cast Nick Cannon as Static Shock, I will personally set fire to the casting director's underpants:argh:. While he or she's still wearing them:cmad:. And I'm not just talking a gasoline fire, I'm talking flame thrower, flaming jelly that sticks to your skin fire:twisted:. I can't imagine a bigger travesty:barf:.

i doubt they would cast nick cannon now if they did a static shock film. he is just far to old for the character.

I'd definitely like to see Jaden Smith as Static, and I could see a movie being a hybrid of the comic and the cartoon.

Sure it would be a great movie I think Leon Thomas III could play static and jonathan lipnicki as Gear

lol, and I would watch in joy, that would definitely be a major travesty

they would probably want to go with someone younger then him. HE is what early-mid 20s?

Might be an interesting choice. He's certainly done well with Karate Kid. I wouldn't mind seeing him take a shot at Static, if possible.

I still say the kid that played in Everybody Hates Chris would work as well.

I'd love to see a movie about all the milestone characters.

But they'd probably get sued since many of the characters where knock offs.

Before I deliver my cast, I'd just like you to imagine True Blood mixed with Smallville. Think about all the DCU elements of Smallville that make you smile. Now think about the way True Blood is structured. Every character has something to do at any given time. If they aren't on the screen, you can easily think of where they are and/or what they're doing. Just like True Blood, every character becomes your favorite. You'll hate them all at one point or another but that's how character arcs work.

Just to make my "vision" a little easier for you folks, I've added DCAU wiki entries to the characters names(click the name in bold), in case you don't know who they are. Also, like my Teen Titans casting, I added a youtube clip from that actor/actress' filmography(click the name after the semicolon).

Finally, for those hardcore Static fans, I'm letting you know right now that I will tinker with your source material until I'm satisfied. I recently started reading the books and its been tough. I even started watching the show, which is a lot worse than I thought it was originally. So imagine the comedic aspects of the cartoon written better, and imagine the dramatic themes presented in the comics....written and presented better. In my little vision, some characters will be more relevant(Wade for instance), and plot lines are no exception. Since its pretty obvious, I'm becoming obsessed with this, maybe one day I'll write out what I see for the show and you guys can tell me just how amazing that would be if we lived in a world where people would watch a Static Shock television show.

Static/Virgil Hawkins:
Julito Mccullum
The_Wire_Namond.jpg

(Star of the show. Nerdy, but funny and really nervous. Julito doesn't have dreads, and probably can't pull them off without looking weird, but he's really talented and charming. see: The Wire or Miracle's Boys)

Richie Foley:
Xavier Samuel
gallerymainxaviersamuel.jpg

(Richie is the friend who's always there, but forever lonely. Xavier played a gay kid on Newcastle so being awkwardly left-out should be no problem.)

Daisy Watkins:
Kyla Pratt

(Probably the most unsure casting here. Kyla can act, but I'm not sure she could keep the sweet, innocent and brainy personality thats needed up.)

Francis Stone/Hotstreak:
Bryan Greenberg
BryanGreenberg.jpg

(Yes, I realize he's old. But that doesn't bother him from playing a highschooler on HBO. So if he's good with it, and can be convincing, then I'm more than welcome to it. Besides, I think there's room for some good Francis stories outside of randomly angered teenager.)

Larry WADE:
Quinton Aaron
f8bf98ecdb.jpg

(Not a huge role, but a huge person. Larry Wade is unintentionally the source of many of Virgil's high school problems. Quinton would probably welcome a role where he isn't played as a loser.)

Robert Hawkins:
Wendell Pierce
wendellpierce.jpg

(Strict, but never-around-always-working-Father of our hero. Someone's gotta pay the bills. Wendell has shown on TREME that he can show that struggle and still be charming.)

Sharon Hawkins:
Shamyl Brown
20060918085729thewiredo.jpg

(She can play innocent, but she can play pissed off too. And that's important. In my Static series, she plays a much bigger role. She'll have her own story arcs to keep things interesting outside of Virgil and Richie.)

Exactly, that's why I think he's a good candidate for a live action movie. He's young hip, cool, and funny. A different kind of superhero than has been seen lately. He's very hip and pop culture. I think audiences would enjoy surfing the skies with him.

I agree.. Although i think the movie would have to be made out to catch older audiences also so the movie is not so tame and maybe make static out to be 16-18 and not to young..Thats where the dragonball movie went entirely wrong.. it was much to tame and not brutal enough. I think if Static Shock was made right with racial views in the show and villains like ebon, hot streak etc it would be the best superhero movie made of all time.
PLEASE MAKE A STATIC SHOCK MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to see a Static Movie. He is my favorite super hero
