World Lois and Clark pilot

This show had camp value but not much else. Lane Smith's Perry White would have been good if not for the Elvis obsession. Landes did a great job as Jimmy, as did Shea as Luthor. Cain was okay as Clark Kent, but as someone else said, his Superman was basically just Clark with a cape. One of the things that really annoys me about Dean Cain's performance is actually more a fault of John Byrne, who's revamp obviously fueled a lot of this series. And that's the fact that Clark is far too confident, cocky, too much of a go-getter. He's not mild mannered in any sense of that term. Granted, Christopher Reeve's Clark could be over the top at times, but Routh struck a nice balance of being quiet and reserved and a bit bumbling, but more or less basically a wallflower.

But please, do not get me started on Teri Hatcher's incredibly horrid depiction of Lois. Far too daytime soapish. And the villains on the show, with the exception of Luthor, were too ridiculous for words.

Clark is still mild-mannered. Cain's Clark is still extremely polite, softly spoken, never shouts, goes out of his way to help people, and so on. He's just not a bumbling clutz.

Bruce Campbell appeared in 'Lois & Clark'? Gotta watch that show again :D

Yes, during season 2. He was the first to attack Superman with red kryptonite.

Yup. Dean Cain's Clark Kent is basically a post crisis version of George Reeves' CK.

bollocks, where do you get this view from ?

I timed the minutes Routh appears as Clark and its less than 20 minutes.

Dean Cain was clark for 4 years, yet you come to the assumption that Routh was better as Clark.

What rubbish!

All routh did was do a Chris reeve impression, said one or two words,
and was hardly memorable.

Cain was clark for 4 whole years, and mastered the character.

So what if his superman lacked something, it was a TV show, and it worked bloody well.

Face it, superman returns sucked because singer wasnt good enough and neither was his cast.

It failed.

Even as a Routh fan I have to agree on your post :o

I was just thinking about this...with a few changes and more action beats, the Lois and Clark pilot would have been the perfect re-launch film for the movie franchise back in the early `90s.

What do you think? And, if you're not sure here's the pilot:

Most definitely. It was more faithful to the comics. Great show. Nice to see some people can get over the Donner films and do something different.
