London's Burning: How a Skyscraper Melts Cars

I saw aim it towards the sky so it can be used to attacked The Invid.

Why does it seem like architects are some of the dumbest people with no understanding of basic physics? Look at some of the proposals of the Freedom Tower for more proof.

I think they just think up cool building concepts then somehow ignore the reality of what their projects will entail.

"Yeah, that giant mirror building is cool but it literally melts people's faces off when they look at it."
"We'll figure out how to solve that later. Let's start building."
"Okay!"

LMAO I was going to say how there's a hotel in Vegas which does this too, and turns out it was built by THE SAME GUY. :lmao:

Clearly he's more of a designer architect than an engineer architect. :o

He's a designer architect for super villains. This is just his resume.

I'd like to see pictures of the car, because Mythbusters tried to recreate a (Roman)"death ray" using tons of mirrors to reflect the sun onto a ship to catch it on fire and were unsuccessful. So I wonder if this is really legit.

Hmm. Does he do smaller buildings near Orphanages or petting zoos? Just out of curiosity mind you.

Melting isn't nearly the same thing as combusting. :funny:

This reminds me of a Star Wars joke:

Close to the completion of the first Death Star, the building contractor takes Darth Vader around the new battlestation for a short tour.

"As you can see, Lord Vader, our aerospace engineering team has installed the most powerful engines in the galaxy. This battlestation can take you anywhere you want to go," says the contractor proudly.

"Most impressive!" says Vader, nodding his approval.

"And check out these weapons systems," the contractor continues. "Our optical specialists have built a laser cannon that can destroy a planet in mere minutes!"

"Excellent," says Vader.

"And finally," the contractor says, "here is the fusion reactor. Our top physicists have designed a cheap, efficient energy source for the whole station!"

"Hmmm," says Vader. "That's pretty cool, but I noticed there's a big hole in the station's superstructure. Can't the rebels just fly a small ship right in here and blow this reactor up?"

The contractor thinks for a minute and says, "Don't worry about that hole. The painters will take care of it."

The first link shows how the exterior walls curve inward, but I wasn't prepared for the way it sorta curves downward as shown in Teelie's link. It looks like something out of a cartoon.

you could open a restaraunt across from the building and save money on ovens.

This may be a super villain plot to eventually redirect it towards the London bridge. Then when it's being destroyed they can blare from the loudspeakers "London Bridge is falling down.

It is so hot that they managed to fry an egg on the street

Brilliant. First they build a tower that looks like saurons tower from Lotr (the shard) now they've got laser buildings to punish the wicked.

Love it

there are a **** ton of amazing things in this world. It really does look like it is out of a cartoon. Puts the Leaning Tower of Piza to shame, in my opinion.

I'm starting to feel like we're heading into a Command and Conquer video game.

Pretty stupid of the architect (and the engineers and contractors) to not take into account variables such as the shape of the building, reflectiveness of the glass, and the sun's position in relation to the building. This architect seems to have forgotten what he was taught in architecture school.
