I have a 13" macbook with a T tip charger that just burned through its cord. I was looking at a replacement, either genuine or not, and need some help. Looked at a few non apple replacements and they mostly said they broke after a few months but the actual cords run to $100+. Any place online that sells genuine fairly cheap or does apple repair/replace them cheap enough?

Also, dont have tools to repair it so that's out.

I have had a few third party chargers, and the quality varies from terrible to about on par with an official charger, and one that was actually better.

Bear in mind the official charger rather sucks, and I have never had one last me a whole year. Actually pretty ridiculous considering most Apple laptops cost a 1000 bucks, and you can get a better charger for a 300 dollar computer. But I digress.

So, I would suggest you go on Amazon and find the third party one with the best reviews.

Ironically, the one made by Apple (Amazon sells it for about 75) has worse reviews since it sucks, and it costs you nearly 80 dollars. Or 4 times as much as a third party one with about the same quality.

Apple needs to really work on this.

If you want to find the official one on Amazon make sure it says "retail package". It's 73 USD right now.

Lol, on Apple's own site the first review for their charger says "utter garbage".

The charger has a 1.5/5 rating on their own site.

Are there any you'd recommend?

I was looking a moment ago and the one I bought (the one that has actually outlasted the official one) is no longer listed.

I really can't recommend one, but I would suggest carefully reading the reviews.

I would definitely not spend more than 40 for a non-official one though. If you get an official one and it breaks you can go to the Apple Store and raise hell about it.

You might try that if you bought it and the laptop recently. Worked twice for me.

Tried ebay, found one for $28 w/ shipping. Hope it gets here soon. Typing on my phone is a *****.

Amazon prices were higher for the same model and cost way too much around the city. Free shipping also helped.

Got it today. It works. Huzzah!

Apple's chargers are notoriously bad. I think they do this on purpose because of the average life people tend to get out of a Mac (very long time).
